The ‘Sugar’ era has started! Sean O’Malley astounded the world with a scintillating display of his right hand to eventually grab Aljamain Sterling’s bantamweight title. Sterling, who was planning to transition into a brand new division to challenge featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski after the fight, was dismayed to discover his defeat.
In fact, he had a post-match conversation with UFC commentator Joe Rogan to discuss his thoughts after the bout. Additionally, Sterling’s quotes went on to surface on social media, which were enough to draw the attention of the fans.
How did Aljamain Sterling shed light on his plans?

Aljamain Sterling might have a plan, as he discussed with the 56-year-old. His thoughts went on to become a highlight since they were surfaced by the UFC’s official Reddit handle. The 22-second clip displayed a conversation between Joe Rogan and Aljamain Sterling after the fight. It got a caption that was evidently meant to highlight ‘Aljo’s’ plans for his division change. It quoted, “If he caught me like that, I can’t imagine what Volk will do.”
After the devastating defeat against O’Malley, Sterling’s words displayed his acceptance of what went wrong. However, reanalyzing becomes necessary for Sterling if he wants to change his weight class. His words, however, were able to generate intrigue since they caught the attention of the fans.

The future plans of the UFC fighters obviously tend to provoke the reaction of the fans. In this instance, the fans’ reactions were quite conflicted. Some praised Sterling for embracing the heartbreaking loss, while others continued to adore ‘Sugar.’ However, these are their responses:

Notably, since UFC 288 announced the next bantamweight title bout, both competitors have been in the midst of a feud. O’Malley stayed away for over a year after defeating Petr Yan, while Sterling entered the fight fresh off of three effective defenses.
