In a recent development of events, Apple launched its much-awaited ‘Apple Intelligence’ technology on Monday. It also announced plans for integrating the technology across its multiple applications, including Siri. The company will be bringing in OpenAI’s chatbot ChatGPT to its devices. While most of its users are happy about it, 56-year-old Joe Rogan is worried. While speaking to Action Bronson in the latest JRE episode, the UFC color commentator shared his honest opinion about the latest Apple AI technology and Elon Musk’s reaction to it.

The concept of Artificial Intelligence has always intrigued Joe Rogan. Despite being an advocate of technology, Rogan has been vocal about the harm caused by it. Though the idea has always haunted the JRE host, he seems to be terrified of the latest development. While speaking to Rogan at the ‘Joe Rogan Experience #2164’, Bronson asked him, “What is this AI with the smartphone that I’m seeing on Instagram?”

Just like his old self, Rogan was quick to point out that “This is the newest AI.” The veteran further pointed out how Elon Musk is protesting against it and is not a fan of this. He said, “I don’t know Elon seems to be very apprehensive, and he said something about that. He doesn’t think they are going to be able to control it. And he thinks it represents security risk to the extent that he’s not going to allow people to. He’s not gonna allow people at Tesla to have them. He’s not gonna allow them to come in with like iPads or laptops that are Apple. Listen, man, if he’s getting scared, I get scared.” 

Rogan has often brought up the topic of AI in his podcast on multiple occasions. The 56-year-old does feel it is a threat to the society. A few months back, while speaking to Duncan Trussell, the UFC commentator pointed out how AI can bring about a change in the culture much sooner than expected.

Joe Rogan pointed out yet another problem that AI will be bringing in

Rogan seemed pretty worried about the idea of AI entering the field of entertainment. According to the 56-year-old, if AI models consume art like films, television shows, OTT series, and music, it will create new art. Such is its ability to adopt that the JRE host feels it can manipulate culture. He said, “If it [AI] has all of human knowledge, all of it, everything on the internet that we’ve ever posted, all the books we’ve ever written, all the movies we’ve ever made… if all that information is available and it can Instantaneously access it and figure out what to do with it, it will just slowly start manipulating culture,”

This was not the only concern for Rogan. He even invited futurist and technologist Ray Kurzweil on his #2117 episode to discuss the emergence of AI. According to the futurist, AI is only going to get better with time and can even surpass human beings. Kurzweil even pointed out that AI matching humans in terms of creative ability is not too far away and predicted that by 2029, it will match all human beings. All these claims have only instilled fear in the mind of the JRE host.
