Jon Jones is probably the greatest mixed martial artist of all time. The two-division UFC champion is one of the most athletically gifted fighters whose natural speed and agility, combined with his exceptional ring IQ and ability to improvise, have made him an unstoppable force for over a decade. Jon, although currently sidelined due to an injury and has confirmed he won’t be featuring on UFC 300 in April, is expected to fight Stipe Miocic once he recovers.
However, surprisingly, the undisputed UFC champion is not even the strongest or most athletic person in his own family. That honor goes to his younger brother and NFL defensive end, Chandler Jones, who once lifted Jon from his wrists. And as a free agent he joined former UFC light heavyweight champion and Jon’s former opponent, Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson on his ‘Jaxxon Podcast’ where he shared some interesting stories about his brother and the UFC.

Chandler revealed that he and his brothers, including Jon, used to wrestle for six rounds as soon as they got home from school under their father’s guidance. “As soon as we get in the house, six round [wrestling] matches. My dad was conducting it: six round, as soon as we get in the house from school. To this day, I still got that in me,” Chandler told ‘Rampage’.
‘Rampage’ asked Chandler how many years he wrestled before moving to basketball and football. The defensive end revealed that while he had started wrestling in the Peewee leagues as a child, he gave the sport up in high school to focus on basketball instead. “I wrestled from a kid, Peewee wrestling until High School [and then] I start playing basketball,” he revealed.
Chandler claimed that despite having given up wrestling long ago, he could still grapple and had even asked UFC CEO Dana White to sign him to a “ten-day contract” similar to those offered by some NFL teams. The Super Bowl winner, who is now a free agent after the Las Vegas Raiders released him, also disclosed that he is looking to sign with another football team because he was earning a lot of money for beating up on smaller guys as a defensive end.
“I told Dana White sign me to that 10 day contract and I’m trying to get back in the NFL, though, for real. it’s easy money they was giving me $18 million a year, $17 million a year to go f**k on these little boys up,” Chandler added. And the football player certainly has the strength to compete in the UFC, as Jon revealed recently.

“There was a time we were at a hotel a few years ago, and he was sitting down on a couch. And I came and stood right in front of him, and I put my hands down on his wrists like this… Chandler, while sitting there, took his wrist, and… he just almost lifted me off my feet. I had never felt such a strength,” Jon told Yahoo Sports. Do you think Chandler Jones would be able to successfully transition to MMA?
