Israel Adesanya Vs Alex Pereira fighting at UFC 287 has grabbed a lot of attention for the event, but another fight is adding sparks to the event. Jorge Masvidal who is coming out of a string of losses and his next fight against Gilbert Burns has become extremely important. Going into the fight, Masvidal had mentioned that he could walk away from the UFC if he lost his fight against Burns. There are thus speculations that UFC 287 may be the last time Masvidal is fighting in the UFC cage. McGregor slayer and lightweight #2 rank Dustin Poirier sees a lot of potentials left in ‘The Gamebred’.

Jorge Masvidal has had a long and successful career. He has been one of the more popular fighters because of his flamboyant style and knockout mastery. Masvidal has had a massive 51 fights in his career. He has won 35 and lost 16 fights. The last time Masvidal fought he had suffered a loss against Colby Covington at UFC 272. Poirier has trained with Masvidal and knows the fighter well and showed his belief in his capabilities.
Dustin Poirier shows belief in aging Jorge Masvidal
Talking to Megan Olivi and Din Thomas, Poirier was asked about his thoughts on Masvidal going against Gilbert Burns. Responding to the views that Din Thomas presented, Poirier had some good things to say about ‘The Gamebred’. Poirier said, “The guy is a superstar. If he goes and gets his highlight finish of Gilbert burns, he is going to be knocking on the doors.”

Talking about the future he saw for Jorge Masvidal, Poirier talked about how he felt there should be no pressure on Masvidal going into the fight and that he could beat “anybody in the world”. Poirier said, “I think he has a lot left. You know I trained with the guy, i have seen him a few months ago, He is still a student putting in the work and in think he can still beat anybody in the world.” It looked like Poirier had a lot of respect for what Masvidal has achieved and what he is made of.

Jorge Masvidal’s BKFC making ripples
Jorge Masvidal may have already sorted out his life after UFC. ‘The Gamebred’ has ventured into a career as a promotion owner and his promotion appears to be making some ripples. 6 of the total 26 fighters who showed up in his last event earned amounts in 6 figures. Jose Aldo was one of the marquee fighters who appeared in his promotion.
