Edwards is one of the most underrated fighters in the UFC, and his partnership with coach Lovell goes a long way back. “Rocky” considers him a father figure and has a great degree of respect for him. Coach Lovell feels Edwards fought a brilliant fight at UFC 296 and kept his emotions under control after Covington made fun of his deceased father at the press conference.

While speaking to Ariel Helwani in a recent YouTube video, Lovell cleared all the doubts regarding when the Champion would fight again. In the video, he said: “‘ Well Tim was given the message that they possibly want him back I believe is it March [or]  April in Vegas again. Is it the 300? There’s word on that but we’ll just see what the boss says and if he’s down for it.”

He continued, “I mean yeah, I think personally, Ariel, he may just want he just may want it you know because now he’s just come out of camp. He’ll want to sort of like jump back in. So he can have a little one break over the Christmas and obviously back to the grindstone if he wants this piece of his pie in April. So he won’t have much to do in the sense of all we need to know [is] what opponent will be so we can set the game plan for that particular opponent. “

During the interview, Coach Lovell also picked some fighters Edwards might face next. With Edwards successfully defending his title, seeing who he faces next will be interesting. One of the first names that comes up is number two, ranked Welterweight Belal Muhammad. It will be interesting to see if “Rocky” faces him next.

Although Edwards’ coach Lovells wants Gilbert Burns as his next opponent, it’s highly impossible. His next title defense might be against the number two-ranked welterweight, Belal Muhammad, after “Rocky” successfully defeated the number one and number five-ranked fighters. Muhammad has shown a keen interest in fighting Edwards for a long time. It seems that “Remember The Name” will finally get his chance to fight him. Edwards recently took to his Twitter account to accept the challenge and even termed Muhammad as the least intimidating person.
