Despite being the very first Palestinian UFC champion, Belal Muhammad has received quite a bit of hatred from the fighting realm. The hate continued to rise even after he defeated Leon Edwards fair and square at UFC 304. But now, his former opponent, Sean Brady, has come forth to defend the welterweight champion from all the hate. For the uninitiated, Brady and Muhammad clashed back at UFC 280, where ‘Remember The Name’ knocked the 32-year-old out (one of the two KO victories of Muhammad’s UFC career).
Yet, the #1 welterweight contender claimed that the duo had no problems with each other. Talking to MMA journalist Damon Martin, Brady said, “There was never any beef with us. Like, yeah, he gave me my first loss. He was the better man that night. Kudos to him. But yeah, I’ve always said, I think he gets a lot of hate for no reason.” Well, Brady admitted that Muhammad had a habit of playing along with the hatred. But that’s a fair way of selling fights, don’t you agree?
Brady continued, “He was very respectable to me in the cage, after the fight. And yeah, I have no problems with him. But of course, as a competitor, as a fighter, I can’t wait to fight him again. But it’s nothing but respect to me, from me, to all these guys. I don’t have beef with anybody.” In the process, Colby Covington caught some strays from the #1 welterweight contender. But in the end, he claimed that it was all business.

Before we go any further, we are already aware that Muhammad is a close associate of Khabib Nurmagomedov and his team. And with a strong sense of brotherhood, Team Khabib often praises those who side with their friends. Yes, the same happened with Brady. As Red Corner MMA shared Brady’s words on X, Ali Abdelaziz swooped to the replies and wrote, “This good man.”

Nevertheless, the #1 welterweight contender was up for a rematch against Muhammad. After all, being on top of the rankings does put the fighters close to a title shot. But do you know that there is another fighter that Brady agreed to go against?

Sean Brady is ready to fight Shavkat Rakhmonov next if necessary
In the conversation with Martin, the welterweight juggernaut from Pennsylvania expressed his discontent at the rumors of Shavkat Rakhmonov getting the next title shot. He claimed that, judging from the records and the position in the welterweight rankings system, it should ideally be him. However, he wasn’t ready to wait for a bout that might not even happen. He said, “I’m not going to wait around for something that’s not guaranteed. So if the UFC wants to do me and Shavkat, I’m fine with that. I know I’m the best fighter in the world, on this planet, so if I have to go beat Shavkat and then fight for the belt, I’m cool with that.”
What’s your perspective on:
Does Belal Muhammad deserve the hate, or is he just playing the game like a pro?
Have an interesting take?
And the date? According to the Philadelphia-born fighter, he will be keeping his eyes on the title bout on May 10, 2025. And if the UFC big guns choose him to be next in line, he’ll grab the opportunity. He continued, “But I’m going to the fight May 10. If the UFC says to me, hey, you’re next, then that’s what next, but if they have different plans, we’ll figure it out.”

But first, we need to witness the battle between ‘Remember The Name’ and Jack Della Maddalena at UFC 315. Of course, the chances of the Palestinian welterweight champion’s victory are higher. And if the probability holds, we might soon get to watch a rematch between Brady and Muhammad. Until then, we need to wait and watch the story unfold.
