Joe Rogan is one of the most vocal and influential personalities in the sport. The UFC commentator has deep knowledge of MMA and is one of the practitioners of the game. Furthermore, he regularly interacts with the fighters and other personalities resulting in a deeper knowledge of the fight game. This has resulted in the former fear factor host forming some bold opinions of the sport.

Rogan recently invited UFC welterweight Jorge Masvidal to his podcast. Over the course of the entire episode, the duo gave some interesting take on the sport and the fans ought to love them. Additionally, the UFC commentator wished for a couple of changes in the UFC that will raise some eyebrows.

Joe Rogan calls for two big changes to be made in the sport

The UFC commentator called for changes to be made in the sport of MMA in his latest podcast. Rogan is always vocal about such issues and does not hesitate to speak his mind.

Rogan said, “I’ve always felt two things should change. Bare knuckle is the way to go and then two no cage.” This suggestion came in front of Jorge Masvidal who has recently started a combat sports promotion of his own.

Furthermore, the podcaster commented on other sports such as basketball and football to the restrictions in MMA. Rogan continued, “Well you can’t hold someone against a cage. There’s none of that. There’s got to be a way to not have a cage.”

Masvidal also chipped in with, “Let’s explore with it. Let’s see what we can do”. Lastly, the UFC commentator added, “Take away this additional variable. Coz there’s a variable when you’re back up against the cage, and I’ve pressed you here and that shouldn’t be there. Like in a natural world where you’re spinning away from it.”

The UFC commentator had a similar discussion of removing the cage from the sport. In a podcast with Paul Felder, the former Fear Factor host suggested that the cages should be removed from the sport. Additionally, Rogan also gave the example of Pride Fighting Championships which used ropes instead of cages.

Interestingly, Rogan and Paul Felder also spoke about basketball courts and compared that to MMA fights. The bottom line of both conversations was that the cages get in the way of an MMA fight.
