Tai ‘Bam Bam’ Tuivasa is all set to face Marcin Tybura in the coming UFC Vegas 88. The fight was originally scheduled to take place on the UFC 298 card. However, their fight was rescheduled to take place after the UFC 299 without any explanation by the UFC. And now it seems like they are gonna lock horns finally.
The UFC never provided a specific reason, but Tuivasa broke the silence to inform the community that the fight was called off and rescheduled due to an injury he sustained. ‘Bam Bam’ on his YouTube handle asserted that he tore his meniscus in training and that’s why he was out of the match. But wait. Is he ready to fight again? Let’s find out.

Tai Tuivasa is having a hard time in the UFC. The heavyweight fighter is currently riding a 3-fight-losing streak and he would like to overturn this. Regardless, his health might not help him that much. As mentioned above, Tuivasa just had surgery to remove his torn meniscus. ‘Bam Bam’ in a statement admitted that he had to undergo surgery to fight.
When asked about his preparation for the fight by Ariel Helwani, Tuivasa claimed that he was ready to fight even in the UFC 298 card but played it safe due to his surgery. At the UFC Fight Night 239 media day, Tuivasa claimed that he had some pressure but it’s natural to him.
He said, “There’s always pressure, but it’s no pressure I haven’t seen before. I’ve been here before in my life and infighting. My preparation has been good, so I’m relying on that. Marcin has been around for a long time – I’ve watched him for many years. He’s very experienced. I’m not going to be able to bring anything that he hasn’t seen before. I know his plan is to try to drag me through the rounds and then try to wear me down, I suppose. But this is the heavyweight division and I want to come down and come hard and try to get this job done.”
🚨| Tai Tuivasa tells @arielhelwani that he moved his fight against Marcin Tybura from UFC 298 to #UFCVegas88 because he had to get his meniscus removed.
When asked if he’s left himself enough time to recover he said he had and he could’ve fought in Anaheim but moved it back to… pic.twitter.com/NnA25gBQgD
