How many days has Tom Aspinall completed as the interim heavyweight champ? As per MMA Junkie, its 535 days. Can you imagine that? 535 days waiting for the opportunity of getting the well-deserved title unification bout. But nothing seemed to go fast thanks to Jon Jones, who did not give any real answer to whether he wanted to fight Aspinall or not.
However, Dana White assured that there was a 100% chance of this mega fight taking place. “It’s going to happen,” White told TNT Sports. “It’s done, but it’s not done. Not done enough to sit right here now and announce it and give you a date. But a fight’s going to happen. It’s just a matter of getting it signed now.” Thankfully, it looks like the wait for MMA fans and Aspinall will not be in vain because the Brit has a huge update—or at least a teaser!
As per the video uploaded by MMA Pros Pick, “Tom Aspinall says he has fight news coming soon—hopefully.” In the video, the interim heavyweight champ teased about the upcoming fight. He said, “I know everyone wants fight news, but I do know what’s happening. I’ve had talks with UFC, as we know. I have been sworn to secrecy for a little bit, so stay tuned, stay over the channels, stay over the U F C channels, because as always, as you guys always do. But the news is coming hopefully very, very soon. But if you ask me, I can’t give the answer right now, but stay tuned, it’s coming.”

It’s been a rollercoaster few months of Aspinall continuously waiting for UFC matchmakers to finalise the deal and Jones to sign the dotted lines. Thankfully, Dana White confirmed that Jones vs Aspinall is done but the dates have to be fixed as per TNT Sports. The clash might flesh out during UFC’s International Fight Week card in June, but this too, has a slight problem as per Michael Bisping.
Michael Bisping reveals yet another hurdle for Jones vs Aspinall
‘The Count’ crushed all hopes, but at least he gave us a reality check with the latest update. He said that UFC has a stacked International Fight Week lineup. With Islam Makhachev and Khamzat Chimaev almost confirmed as co-headliners, ‘Bones’ and Aspinall would be hard to include because a three-title fight show is not something the UFC might execute. “They’ve done it before, but that’s three main events in one night,” Bisping said, mentioning his historic fight with Georges St-Pierre.

The UFC CEO certainly won’t waste three huge PPV fights and include them in one show when he can distribute them. Bisping explained, They have done that, and they’ve done that multiple times. But that would be three blockbuster fights that could headline pay-per-views in their own separate rights. So, yeah, it’s just kind of an interesting one. I don’t think—to summarize this and wrap it all up in a second.”
