Joe Rogan is all over the place. He runs the number one podcast in the world, “The Joe Rogan Experience”, is a beloved UFC commentator, and does comedy alongside, too. Apart from all the professional hats he wears, he is a long-time martial arts practitioner as well. Hence, it is fairly evident that the 55-year-old likes to keep himself well-occupied. But if you believe that he does all this because he is a workaholic, then you’re wrong. It’s driven by his tendency to get addicted to things easily.

In the most recent episode of the JRE, Rogan revealed that he once had a serious video game addiction. And he talked about how he needs to have multiple interests in order to not get “obsessed” with anything. Rogan admitted that he used to play video games nonstop for hours while discussing how far his video game addiction had gone.

Joe Rogan gets “super obsessed” with things

During the latest episode of “The Joe Rogan Expereince”, Rogan and his guest, Stavros Halkias, talked about the importance of having a balance in life and having multiple things to do. They asserted that having just one thing that completely takes up all of your time has detrimental impacts on people.

While on the subject, Rogan recalled his own video game addiction. The 55-year-old stated, “Like video games, I used to get addicted to Quake. And I played eight hours a day, dude. I wouldn’t stop. I was addicted. It’s a real problem… And I get like that with martial arts, I get like that with a lot of things. So, for me, I have to have other stuff.”

Further, he talked about his tendency to get obsessed with things easily and how that one thing becomes his one point of focus. “I could get addicted like that to comedy, that’s great. But the problem is like, mentally, when I get addicted to something, I get like super obsessed. And it becomes the only thing I want to concentrate on.” said Rogan.

Joe Rogan has touched on the subject of video game addiction earlier as well. He feels video games are undoubtedly very fun as an activity, but brings no purpose with them in the longer run. Rogan claimed, “Video games are a real problem. They are a real problem. You know why? Because they are f*****g fun… You do them. They’re real exciting, but you don’t get anywhere.”

Rogan thinks the kids could have a successful future if the same amount of time were committed to something else—something more meaningful.
