Very few fighters can boast of dividing public opinion as much as Conor McGregor can. The Irishman achieved unscalable heights since his debut against Marcus Brimage at UFC Sweden 2 in 2013. The former UFC champion signed a deal with UFC in 2013 after his exploits in Cage Warriors Fighting Championship. In addition to having an undefeated stretch of 8 fights, Conor McGregor became a two-division simultaneous champion. A feat that he later replicated in the UFC in 2016.

The Dublin-born fighter announced his arrival on the big stage with a knockout win at Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm. In his post-fight interview with commentator Kenny Florian, McGregor announced his 67-second knockout performance worthy of the $60,000 ‘Knockout of the Night’ bonus.

Hence, he said, “Dana, Sixty G’s, baby!”

Following this, the UFC lynchpin paid heed to the fighter’s calls as McGregor received the bonus, alongside the reported fight purse of $16,000.

Later, in the post-event press conference, the ‘Mystic Mac’ claimed that the fighter didn’t have money before this bout, as he was collecting about $235 from social welfare.

Significantly, his long-term fiancee Dee Devlin helped the then-struggling fighter as he left his plumbing job to focus on his MMA career. Not only did she do the cleaning, but also worked as a waitress to provide him with the necessities.

However, since then, Conor McGregor had unparalleled success both inside and outside the Octagon.

Conor McGregor’s ‘riches’

The 34-year-old fighter has a long list of endorsements that include Monster Energy, Reebok, Beats Electronics, Burger King, and Budweiser. Additionally, McGregor also owns a clothing line, August McGregor, and a whiskey brand, Proper No.12, which was sold for $600 million. In addition, the ‘Notorious’ also owns a pub at his birthplace.

Notably, Crumlin brawler in a press conference leading up to UFC 229, announced his plans to be a billionaire by the age of 35. While McGregor wants to make a global financial footprint, his ambitions have taken a hit recently.

The EU intellectual property court recently rejected the former UFC champion’s application to register his company’s name. The court actually barred his company McGregor Sports and Entertainment Ltd. citing the possibility of confusion with another Dutch company.
