Finally, after a long time of waiting, Umar Nurmagomedov will get his first title shot at the bantamweight title against Merab Dvalishvili in the co-main event of UFC 311. Nurmagomedov got into the top three of the Bantamweight roster with a decisive win over Cory Sandhagen in the main event of UFC on ABC 7.

He is undefeated in MMA with a record of 18–0, so now he would want this major win to finally be crowned as the king of the 135fers. With coach and cousin Khabib Nurmagomedov in his corner, it would be the highlight moment for the 29-year-old. But what about his family, wife, and kids? Is the bantamweight title challenger even married? Well, this is a question that many fans might have in mind, so without further ado, let’s find out the answer.

While Umar Nurmagomedov keeps a private life outside of the Octagon, he is married and has a son. Umar loves to keep his family life private; therefore, specific facts about his wife are not available. However, it is known that his son was born just two days before his victory at UFC Vegas 57. Given that the Dagestanis are deeply religious, it is reasonable to conclude that the 29-year-old is married because he has a child.

But did you know that his son’s name stands out for its significance? Umar Nurmagomedov named his baby after his late uncle and legendary coach, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, the father of Khabib Nurmagomedov. Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov helped shape the fighting careers of many Dagestani fighters, including the UFC 311 challenger and ‘The Eagle.’

In the post-fight press conference after his victory at UFC Vegas 57 against Nate Maness, Umar explained the reason behind the name, “My father chose this name. He said, ‘I’m going to give him my uncle’s name, Abdulmanap.'” The 29-year-old also dropped the stunning confession that he does not want his child to follow in his footsteps as an MMA fighter. “I really hope my son never comes to mixed martial arts like this. But even if he wants, I don’t want to take him in. I hope he’s gonna be like a doctor, or engineer because this is very hard.”
