Does Paddy Pimblett's 'The Baddy' persona make him the most entertaining fighter in the UFC today?

Every fighter’s name is called and announced by the booming voice of Bruce Buffer before they get on stage. thousands of fans listen to this nickname inside the arena so it has to be a magnificent name. Each nickname that the fighters have explains their personality and sounds and somehow talks about their journey to the UFC. Take Conor McGregor’s nickname the ‘Notorious’ or Jon Jones who is called ‘Bones’. So clearly the fighter has to come up with a unique name that stands out.  Paddy Pimblett surely understood the assignment.

The surprising thing is that the nickname was coined interestingly! Fans have always been curious about where his nickname ‘The Baddy’ came from. Pimblett is one of the most noticeable figures in UFC and his rise to fame has been unparalleled. His nickname ‘The Baddy’ has always been a topic of discussion for the fans because they wonder where this nickname comes from. He was born on January 1995 in Liverpool England and is an MMA fighter. The lightweight champ made his professional debut in 2012 with a specialty in Jiu-Jitsu training. He has always achieved victory in his fights through a mix of KO and submission so clearly the nickname suits him well.

This unique moniker comes from Pimblett’s coach who decided to give this nickname to his pupil. The real reason behind this curious name remains unexplained but this undoubtedly makes the fighter more attractive and helps him stand out among the other amazing athletes. He was given the “Paddy the Baddy” nickname on the same night that his former training partner and friend Joel McCarthy had his first MMA fight. When McCarthy asked him if he had any nicknames, he said no. But then his coach came to the rescue with “Paddy the Baddy”.

Interestingly his opponent King Green who was previously Bobby Green,  had also declared that he wanted to change his name legally to King. The pair are set to clash on July 27th at UFC 304 inside Co-op Live in Manchester, UK. Pimblett has been training hard while King was busy changing his name and made it official! This made ‘The Baddy’ give out a funny post  where he put a cutout of his head on the ‘Game of Thrones’ character Jaime Lannister who is known as ‘Kingslayer’ and said, “This mushroom has changed his name to King.”

Paddy Pimblett gives himself a new nickname to mock his opponent

Pimblett debuted at 17 and had a 3-0 record before signing the contract with Cage Warriors. He has a record of 21-3-0 and now he is going to fight Green who is newly named King Green. This name change got Pimblett excited because he tweeted how he was going to defeat King and wrote that his new nickname would be the “Kingslayer.

While King Green does not have the greatest record in UFC at 13-10-1, he has caught one of the top fighters in 155 lbs.  Not only did Pimblett mock Green’s idea of changing his name to King, but he also called his opponent “fake Tupac” recently. He declared on the UFC Embedded series, that his opponent was an “egomaniac”. ‘The Baddy’ also mentioned that Green was underestimating his skillset because apparently, people think Pimblett’s striking prowess is not so good. 

King said this name change was because of the tough journey that he has been on from his childhood to becoming a popular fighter. However, his opponent does not seem to be impressed about it. Which nickname suits Pimblett the most, ‘Kingslayer’ or ‘The Baddy’?
