Von and Strickland had a fun and engaging conversation. However, things got intense when the topic of childhood trauma came up. Somewhere in the middle of the podcast, ‘Tarzan’ revealed how he was mistreated at school and teachers considered him a “bad kid”. However, nobody really knew about everything he had to deal with at his home.
“I remember laying in bed. I remember I stopped believing in God. It’s crazy sh*t,” he revealed. Next, the UFC champion paused for a few seconds, as emotions got the best of him. Taking a minute to get back, Strickland continued to narrate the emotional tales of his struggles.
Addressing the sensitive topic of anxiety, Strickland also talked about how severely it affected him. “When I was a kid, I used to scratch my gum. I have a hole in my gum. Just anxiety,” he said.
