Alex Pereira’s fans were obviously heartbroken with what unfolded at UFC 313. But not everyone was upset about ‘Poatan’s disappointing defeat. His former girlfriend, Merle Christine, seemed a bit too happy with Magomed Ankalaev’s victory over Pereira. Well, it’s understandable for an ex-partner to diss her former romantic interest’s defeat. Christine might be inspired by Dmitry Bivol’s ex-wife, Ekaterina — who knows? But the man with the hands of stone was never going to stay shut for long. 

Right after the Russian was announced as the new light heavyweight champion, Christine took to social media and shared a video. Therein, she congratulated Ankalaev and ranted against ‘Poatan,’ saying, “No more Chama. Karma. He lost on International Women’s Day.” Well, she did believe that it was some kind of a sign from the Gods of MMA.

On top of that, Christine dismissed any claims of injustice against Pereira. She continued, “This guy won, and actually he got this title shot very late, right? So, I think we should give him some props. Even if we don’t like him or don’t like his fighting style, we should give him some props. No more chama.”

As soon as Pereira came across the video, he lashed back at his ex-girlfriend. And yeah, he did mention her husband in the response as well. When FullSend MMA shared Christine’s video on Instagram, ‘Poatan’ took to the comments section and went rogue. He wrote, “I think she should stop mentioning my name cause her husband might get jealous, chama 🔥.” The man with the hands of stone was joined by Plinio Cruz. The Brazilian MMA coach commented, “She should walk to the sunset and give her attention to her husband since she was splitting her time between him and Poatan for a year without no one knowing, sheize🔥.”

Imagine you’re dating someone and even get engaged, but later find out that they were already married to someone else. An exact same scenario poisoned Pereira back in 2024. Christine and Pereira were happy enough in their relationship, but things went downhill when the former light heavyweight champion found out that Christine already had a husband.

During a conversation with Full Send MMA, ‘Poatan’ said, “Well, it’s a little hard to talk about this because for me, I already deleted this person from my life. I would also like to ask my fans to also delete her from your life. It was a person, I believed. I put her in my house, with my family. After all, I found out, she was married.”

However, Christine didn’t really admit to the accusations. Taking to social media, she claimed that the people who believed she already had a husband were stupid. Nevertheless, she announced that she had already broken up with ‘Poatan,’ refusing to give any reasons behind her decision. But despite the breakup, the former couple seems to have a knack for remembering each other. And that comes in waves of cryptic social media bashings.
