Joe Rogan once said, “Jon Jones is a conqueror! A fuck*** conquerer” and really, who can possibly deny it? A fabled decade of destruction and a cabinet full of UFC gold. There has not been one fighter in the history of the sport who has amassed such status as Jones. And come November 16, ‘Bones’ will look to add to that legacy by slaying perhaps the greatest heavyweight of all time.
Jones will be taking on former champion Stipe Miocic for his first title defense at heavyweight. On paper, both fighters have a stellar resume which is followed by a sense of mutual respect in real life. However, the New Mexico native has been inactive for quite some time but one cannot question his killer tendency. But have you pondered about the reason for his consistency at such a high level? Well, it seems that Stipe Miocic has the answer for you.

42-year-old Stipe Miocic recently sat down for a chat with MMA Fighting and pointed out the reason for Jones’s dominance. He said, “I don’t know. I think he’s just he’s good at what he does. You know he’s very. He’s an artist you know. He knows how to mix it up. He knows how to keep a guy guessing him you know. That’s why he’s done so well.”

Jon Jones has built a legacy by taking on—and defeating—some of the most elite fighters in UFC history. Yet, since moving up to the heavyweight division, the 37-year-old champion hasn’t encountered the level of challenge fans might have hoped for. But With Miocic speaking in such high regard, we can understand the reason for his chances despite a single bout in the division.
Among the most anticipated matchups that never came to fruition was a clash with former heavyweight powerhouse Francis Ngannou. However, with “The Predator” leaving the UFC, that dream fight slipped away. Jones, who has hinted that his next bout could be his last, may be nearing retirement. While he hasn’t made an official statement about stepping away, his age suggests it could be on the horizon. UFC CEO Dana White has already confirmed that if a Jones-Ngannou fight does happen, it won’t be within the UFC. This raises the question: could Jones and Ngannou meet outside the UFC once Jones retires?
