When you meet Stipe Miocic, it’s hard to realize that he has lived many lives. The man born to parents who immigrated from Croatia has seen fire and saved lives before punching his opponent inside the Octagon. At 6’4” he is tall but not enough to cast a shadow on others and he is often described as ‘soft-spoken’, ‘gentle’, and ‘Classic Midwesterner.’ But when one shakes his hand, they realize that the gnarled and rough hand is of a veteran who has knocked out the likes of Fabricio Werdum and Mark Hunt among others. These are the same hands that have saved lives from a burning building and restarted stopped hearts, healed broken bones, inserted IV needles, and comforted people on the worst days of their lives.
Stipe Miocic has many personas with his incredible record as the UFC heavyweight champ and a first responder at the Village of Valley View Fire Department. Miocic has been a firefighter for more than a decade and a UFC fighter for 13 years now. Surely with this kind of rough and high-adrenaline life, he would need something to tether him to faith. So what do you think he believes in?

The Cleveland Ohio native was born to Croatian immigrants Kathy and Bojan Miocic on August 19, 1982. His father is from Rtina, Croatia, and his mother is from Leningrad. Unfortunately, his parents separated when he was a toddler, and he lived with his mother, stepfather, and half-brother Jonathan. His mother with whom he has a very close relationship, always encouraged his love for sports. He even told UFC, “I was a mama’s boy. She’s awesome, a great lady. She kicks as*.”
Miocic even wanted to play major-league baseball at Cleveland State University. However, eventually, he went into wrestling while also becoming a full-time paramedic and firefighter in 2022. So, for a person who has such an adventurous life, he is pretty calm and positive-natured while having his faith in Christianity and Jesus. He is a Catholic and even got married to his wife at the Divine Word Catholic Church in Kirtland in front of more than 400 people
The heavyweight stalwart is heavily grounded and the #8 ranked fighter has his mind set to the right places. He takes UFC as a great accomplishment but still works as a firefighter because Miocic ‘wants to have a backup’ as he told Joe Rogan once. When it comes to his faith, he is a very family-oriented person and flaunts his two wonderful children and his wife on social media. Miocic has uploaded pictures of the family Christmas celebrations and even uploaded a picture after winning his fight against Daniel Cormier. He was seen wearing the holy Cross as he donned the flag of America on one shoulder while hanging his HW belt on another.

One day he breaks bones while on the other, he heals them back together for people. He is held as an athletic embodiment of his hometown and the 20-4 record fighter inspires millions. However, Miocic does what he does out of love and a sense of purpose. “If I couldn’t help people, life would be boring,” Miocic said in the same interview. “I’d have no purpose. Just because, when I go out to dinner with my friends, I buy dinner for everybody. They don’t look at me as the UFC heavyweight champ. They look at me as the big, dumb, big-headed kid they hang out with. I’m not dumb, though.”
Now, Miocic is again ready to show his fighter persona as he goes to fight a legendary bout with Jon Jones at UFC 309. What do you think about his multifaceted life?
