Alex Pereira might have been KO’d by Israel Adesanya at UFC 287, but he showed his prowess at UFC 300 against Jamahal Hill. Now the thing is, ‘Sweet Dreams’ and ‘Poatan’ have a long rivalry. Hill was polite just before the promotions, but then changed character and started trash-talking about Pereira! Then Pereira gave his answer at the tricentennial PPV. The Brazilian got the last laught but Hill is back to ambush his happy days it seems, and even dragged ‘Izzy’ into it!
The light heavyweight champion recently got a call out from the American fighter who is set to fight at UFC 303. Hill, who had defeated Pereira’s friend and mentor Glover Teixeira, called ‘Poatan’ out, seeking revenge for what he did after the fight at UFC 300!

Alex Pereira delivered one of the most memorable KOs of all time when dropped Hill on the mat with his signature left hook. Referee Herb Dean stopped the fight and marked the champion’s first title defense. But there was more to this than met the eye.
‘Poatan’ waved off the referee as he stepped in to check a low kick from Hill and this confused ‘Sweet Dreams’. Seconds later Pereira dropped Hill to the ground and celebrated his win with the signature hand gesture done by ‘Khaby Lame’ in his viral videos. This has ticked off Hill, nearly two months after the fight. Pereira’s reason for the celebration was that Hill switched up his demeanor at the press conference after being respectful throughout the build-up.
The 33-year-old was the previous title holder, but unfortunately had a torn Achilles tendon that forced him to vacate the championship. This eventually put the belt in Pereira’s hands after he moved to LHW at UFC 291. Pereira became a two-division champion when he defeated Jiri Prochazka UFC 295. Now ‘Sweet Dreams’, who will fight Carlos Ulberg at UFC 303, has taken on Instagram to slam his former opponent once again.
Hill started by saying that in January last year at UFC 283, he won a fight against Pereira’s head coach Teixeira via unanimous decision. Hill claimed he never disrespected Teixeira even though he put a beating on him in front of the latter’s home crowd. So he was not pleased with Pereira’s celebration post the knockout.

He then continued the caption and dissed Pereira saying, “@alexpoatanpereira you set up a punch you couldn’t get to without a weird confusing moment and did some weak sh*t but it ok because you will fight me again and my eyes won’t leave you until you’re as stiff as Izzy left you in Miami!!!”
Hill was set to fight Khalil Rountree Jr at UFC 303 co-main but this bout was scrapped because Rountree consumed a banned substance. Now Carlos Ulberg stepped in on short notice to fill the gap and now the fight is on for the 205lb division. In the meantime, Dana White is already setting up plans for Alex Pereira.

Alex Pereira might fight Jiri Prochazka in August
Aaron Bronsteter previously came to learn that the light heavyweight champ might fight a former rival soon and it is not Israel Adesanya. This fighter is Jiri Prochazka who Pereira defeated to win the 205 pounds title at UFC 295. White has been planning a rematch between the two and Pereira said the date might be this summer.
He wanted to fight at UFC 301 but due to some broken toes while training and the previous fight with Hill, he had to let go of that opportunity. This initially seemed like good news to Magomed Ankalaev who invited the champion to Abu Dhabi for an October fight. However, Pereira wants to fight “sooner”.

Now he seems to be ready to fight his opponent who he has already KO’d in the second round of their UFC 295 bout. However, ‘Poatan’ is still uncertain about the event or the fixed date of his return to the Octagon since he does not know what the UFC CEO is planning. August is still a few months away but ‘Poatan’ is already training and practicing his KOs.
Do you think that this next fight will be in August? Will Pereira and Hill get another chance to fight in the future?
