Francis Ngannou is one of the most powerful fighters to ever step into the octagon. The Cameroonian is in terrific form right now, and it seems like he is only getting better with time. As of 26th January, he stands fourth in the UFC men’s pound for pound rankings.
He is also the reigning heavyweight champion and recently defended his title at UFC 270, against his former teammate, Ciryl Gane. Many speculate that after his victory against Gane, Jon Jones will be next in line to take on Francis Ngannou.
Recently, the ‘Wonderboy’, Stephen Thompson, discussed the heavyweight bout at UFC 270 on his podcast show, What’s Up Everybody. In the podcast, he also spoke about Jon Jones making his way into the current heavyweight division.

“I just wanna see how big he is compared to the other guys,” said Thompson. “He’s tall enough, but you’ve seen Jon Jones’ legs and you’ve seen Gane or Francis’ legs? Massive. Tree trunks. “
He added,” I just feel like they could leg kick Jon Jones one time, just snap it in half. Those are the fights to make.”
Jon Jones will most likely make his return to the UFC this year. He will return to the promotion as a heavyweight fighter, and might even get a title shot on his debut fight as a heavyweight.

Francis Ngannou revealed after his fight against Gane that he is suffering from a torn ACL and a torn ASL. This means that the fighter will be sidelined for a few months and will not return to the octagon any time soon.
‘The Predator’ is also looking forward to trying his luck in the sport of boxing and is very near to the end of his contract at the UFC. If the UFC does not allow Ngannou to have a boxing match outside the UFC, it might be the end of Francis Ngannou’s career at the UFC.
