2024 has been a year full of shocking twists and turns for Conor McGregor. From a barrage of canceled bouts to infamous civil lawsuits, the Irishman’s year has certainly been eventful. Amid all these challenges, however, McGregor recently dropped a bombshell on social media that caught the attention of fans worldwide. In a tweet, McGregor shared news of a conversation with the Ambani family and teased an exhibition fight with Logan Paul in India.

What made this post even more surprising was that, unlike many of his sensational tweets, McGregor didn’t delete it, sparking endless speculation given that he still has multiple fights left on his UFC contract. Now, fans and pundits alike are debating the potential pros and cons of this highly anticipated exhibition match. Stephen A. Smith weighed in on the topic, expressing a mix of excitement and optimism about the potential matchup.

During an interview on ESPN, Smith shared his thoughts, emphasizing that the fight would be purely for entertainment purposes. He also made a point to contrast this exhibition with the boxing career of Jake Paul, offering a subtle dig at Logan’s own boxing journey. “I appreciate this fight because it’s pure entertainment—it’s an exhibition,” Smith said. “It isn’t Jake Paul training with professional boxers and essentially being a professional boxer, but getting in the ring with non-boxers or geriatric dudes. He’s not doing that. Logan Paul is not doing that. He’s getting into the ring as an entertainer. He’s with World Wrestling Entertainment, and we saw how athletic he was when he faced Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather.”

Smith also expressed concerns about McGregor’s readiness for a comeback in MMA, emphasizing that jumping back into the sport without a proper build-up would likely result in the Irishman getting seriously hurt. In his analysis, Smith didn’t hold back, giving Logan Paul more credit and suggesting that the elder Paul brother might have the upper hand in an exhibition fight with McGregor.

In the ongoing debate between Conor McGregor and Logan Paul, Stephen A. Smith has sided with the latter, picking him as the likely winner of their potential exhibition match. Despite McGregor’s legacy as a dual-weight UFC champion and his sensational striking abilities, Smith believes that Logan Paul’s boxing experience gives him the edge in this fight.

Smith pointed out that while McGregor is a master of striking, he is a classic MMA striker, which might not be enough against Paul, who has honed his skills specifically in boxing. “He’s just sitting up there, not even throwing. You ain’t clipping Logan Paul like that. No, you have to do more than that.”

Furthermore, Smith highlighted Paul’s size advantage, noting that the YouTuber-turned-boxer is much bigger and more experienced in the sport. At 6’2″, Paul has a significant height and reach advantage over McGregor, who stands at 5’9″. While McGregor has an impressive MMA record with 22 wins and an undeniable pedigree as a UFC fighter, Smith argues that this fight isn’t in McGregor’s favor, given the differences in skill sets and experience.

So, what do you think? Could McGregor’s fighting spirit prevail in the boxing ring, or will Logan Paul’s size and boxing experience be too much for ‘The Notorious’ to handle? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
