A few days back, Jon Jones announced his comeback to the octagon following an injury scar. The Rochester native, who has not fought in the ring since defeating Ciryl Gane at UFC 285 in March last year, suffered a torn pectoral while training to fight Stipe Miocic at UFC 295. Not only Jones, but someone whom he admires has also decided to make a comeback. The 36-year-old recently declared his excitement under the comments of Gordon Ryan’s post, who is also set to return after recovering from an injury.

The GOAT Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fighter is coming back into the combat arena and one of his fans, who is also the UFC Heavyweight Champion, is nervous.

Gordon Ryan took to his Instagram account and announced his comeback with a picture of himself and a caption stating, “When Daddy comes back …pray.” There are more than 600 comments under the post and one of them was from John Jones. He commented, “S**t I just got nervous and I don’t even compete in jujitsu.”

Ryan is one of the greatest jujitsu fighters of all time with many accomplishments to his name. He not only catches the attention of the fans but also athletes from other fields of martial arts. He had already defeated Bo Nickal in a BJJ match in 2020. Last year, he faced an injury on his rib and had to withdraw from the UFC Fight Pass Invitational in 2023. During training, he was performing back escapes and unfortunately popped his rib during a misdirection escape and had to reschedule the matches that were already planned.

However, it seems like he is back in the game and this new post is making his fans and even other fighters excited. Jones, who was lucky enough to train with him previously, did not let his chance go of commenting under the post and appreciating the King’s comeback.

Jon Jones trained with the GOAT and knows his prowess

Perhaps this was as big of a crossover as they showed in ‘Batman v Superman’ or ‘Avengers: Infinity War’. Gordon Ryan had gone to Albuquerque to train with Jon Jones and even posted pictures from his visit on his official Instagram account. He captioned the post saying that the fighter was “an exceptional athlete”.

‘Bones’ also appreciated the jujitsu fighter and wrote, “Gordon you are an extraordinary human being, I’m grateful to call you friend”. The five-time ADCC champion complimented the UFC champion’s attitude on the training and his approach to the fight.
