#9 UFC Featherweight fighter Ilia Topuria has started the year with a bang. He is fighting and dropping people just like he did at UFC 282. The only difference is that he is doing it outside the octagon. Ilia Topuria was seen engaging in a bar brawl in Spain. As the images from the CCTV footage shows, Topuria was first approached by a heckler and Topuria threw a bunch of punches back. As the rogue heckler’s friends arrived as backup, ‘El Matador’ found an unexpected tag teammate in singer Omar Montes. The Spanish singer has now issued a bold statement regarding the incident.

He said, he was sorry but he wasn’t one of those men who wouldn’t do anything if someone came after their friend. The statement was further pushed on social media when ESPN Deportes MMA writer Carlos Contreras Legaspi shared Montes’s statement on Twitter.

Spanish Singer fought alongside UFC star

While Ilia Topuria is an accomplished fighter himself, bar brawls and such incidents often turn ugly. When Topuria was pushed by the attacker, he immediately engaged him with punches of his choice. The people with the heckler arrived as a backup but Ilia had Montes with him. The duo fought off the attackers before bystanders broke up the fight.

The Tweet from Legaspi clears out what was going on in Omar Montes’s mind. He tweeted, Omar Montes, the singer who was along Ilia Topuria in the alleged bar fight states: “We will be taking measures after whoever released the fight video from the bar cameras. I’m really not like that but I won’t stay with my arms crossed if they come after my friend. I apologize”

Omar Montes has been a boxer himself. The Spanish singer has more than 100 fights in the welterweight division under his belt. Fans can not blame the singer much for getting into the altercation as it seemed that the attackers were unprovoked and Ilia Topuria was acting in self-defense. Ilia Topuria was last seen in the UFC octagon at UFC 282. He won the performance of the night award for his performance against Bryce Mitchell.
