Shavkat Rakhmonov, even though he’s not the champion, has made a big name after continuing to remain undefeated in not just the UFC, but in his overall MMA career. However, it seems like fighting is in his blood, and his sibling, a sister named Sora Rakhmonova, is also on her journey to MMA greatness, and she has done quite well for herself so far.
Sora Rakhmonova wants to follow her brother Shavkat Rakhmonov into the UFC, hoping to make a name for herself in the world’s most popular MMA promotion. But who is ‘Nomad’s sister? Let us get to know her better by taking a peek into her personal life.

Sora Rakhmonova hails from Kazakhstan and is the undefeated UFC welterweight Shavkat Rakhmonov’s younger sister, as we’ve already established. Information about the 25-year-old is scarce and not much is available in the public domain. Much like her star brother, Rakhmonova also belongs to the Altynbai clan of the Alimuly tribe, which is a community of people residing in the western part of Kazakhstan.

Shavkat Rakhmonov’s sister got married late last year to fellow Kazakh MMA fighter-turned-regional politician, Nursultan Orynbassarov. However, ‘Nomad’ could not see his sister tie the knot as he was occupied with a fight camp. Rakhmonov was gearing up for the fight against Stephen Thompson, whom he would go on to dominate, but he did leave a message for her over a phone call.
Sora Rakhmonova hasn’t competed since May 2023, but her record’s a pretty good one. And guess what? She almost came to the UFC, following in her brother’s footsteps.

Rakhmonova’s MMA record: Was she on Dana White’s Contender Series?
Sora Rakhmonova made headlines earlier in early 2023 with her spectacular second-round victory over Valyria Karygina. She used the in-Octagon post-fight interview to call for a shot at a UFC contract. This apparently worked, and Shavkat’s sister was booked to face Ernesta Kareckaite in a flyweight bout on Dana White’s Contender Series in September earlier this year but pulled out due to undisclosed reasons.
Currently, Shavkat Rakhmonov’s sister is ranked #28 in the Eurasian MMA scene and earned her blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 2023. Given her brother’s popularity, there was some buzz around her DWCS fixture against Kareckaite, who was undefeated in her five fights. A respectable performance there would have most likely meant a UFC contract.

Despite failing to become the first sister-brother UFC duo with Shavkat Rakhmonov, Sora Rakhmonova seems to be continuing her MMA training, and maybe we can see her come to the UFC. However, she is not undefeated like her brother, as her record stands at 4 wins and 1 loss, but still, her career has taken off in a pretty positive manner.
Shavkat Rakhmonov will be taking on Ian Garry at UFC 310‘s co-main event in a battle of two undefeated stars. Her sister may not be there to support him in Las Vegas, but she’ll surely be sending her prayers his way from her native country of Kazakhstan.
