The Joe Rogan Experience is back, with its #2126 episode. This time around, the 56-year-old Joe Rogan invited stand-up comedian Donnell Rawlings for a chat. As usual, the JRE host was at his best and engaged in a two-hour conversation with his guest. Since both Rogan and Rawlings have a common interest in comedy, they shared their opinions on fellow comic and former JRE guest Dave Attell.

While speaking to Rawlings, Rogan shared how 59-year-old Attell became a household name in comedy despite having his issues with alcoholism. Let us find out what the JRE host had to say about him.

Donnell Rawlings and Joe Rogan seemed absolutely mesmerized by the work done by Attell. While Attell currently sits at a top spot among comedians, he had his fair share of problems in the beginning. However, Rogan pointed out the changes he made in his lifestyle, which helped him grow in his profession.

From 2001 to 2204, Attell hosted the Comedy Central show ‘Insomniac.’ The premise of the show was Attell performing at a comedy club and then visiting various bars and pubs. Needless to say, there was a lot of alcohol involved.

“‘Insomniac’ was a drinking show,” Attell said. “But drinking takes its toll. I can’t drink like I did when I was 27. Twenty-seven is that great age. I miss being 27. But I’m not 27 anymore. You grow up and you move on. The problem is that everyone wants to drink with me. But I can’t do it. I don’t want to go into rehab…”

So it was all the more impressive to see Attell turn his life around, change lanes in his approach to comedy, and find success. Speaking of the same, Joe Rogan said, “He’s just like really focused on that one thing. You know he used to be an alcoh*lic and when he quit drinking he got way better when he quit drinking. You know, like there’s something happened to him. Some comics there’s something that happens. They’re drunks when they’re young. And then they quit drinking and they are not as good anymore. Because they’re not as fun cuz when they are drunk, they are wild.”

This was not the first time that Joe Rogan was spellbound by Dave Attell. In one of his episodes, he invited the comedian on his podcast and was shocked after listening to his confession about smartphones.

Dave Attell’s claims of not using smartphones shocked Joe Rogan

Yes, you read it right, Dave Attell doesn’t use smartphones. He made this confession in the #2124 episode of the Joe Rogan podcast. During the episode while speaking to Rogan, he shocked the host after he pulled out a flip phone. He gave his reasons for still using ‘old technology’ in the era of iPhones and android smartphones. After watching all these, the JRE host was absolutely shocked and couldn’t resist himself from commenting on it. He said, “This is madness (Attell texting on his flip phone), how long does it take for you to accomplish this?”

Rogan then questioned him whether he owned any iPhones or not. Attell answered the question in his own style and said, “I have one, but this is me off the grid, this is my, ‘when sh*t happens, right here, I’m ready to go.’” In an age dominated by technology, Attell’s simplicity was the stand out part of the conversation. Not only Rogan, but Ian Fidance was also in disbelief after listening to it. How many of you still use flip phones? Let us know in the comments below.
