However, in a recent Instagram post, Aspinall shared his experience with dealing with Autism and the kind of work he wants to do for people who have it.

While Aspinall’s fighting skills are known worldwide, what is less known about his journey is his son’s autism diagnosis. Let us delve in to see what the interim champion shared regarding his difficulties and the work he wants to do. 

Aspinall wants to use his stature to get as much help as he can

In a recent interview with ‘True Geordie’, Aspinall shared how he feels about Autism and what measures must be taken to help them. The 30-year-old is married to Justynagro Aspinall and is a father of three kids (two sons and a daughter). He made it clear that one of his twin sons, who just turned four, has Autism and the kind of difficulty he faces as a parent. 

Aspinall, in the Instagram video, said, “One of my children has Autism. And my child’s only just turned four so, I’m in the infancies of understanding Autism. It can go from someone not being able to explain their feelings properly, to someone not being able to walk and talk ever. There’s people now 60,70-year-old people who are still caring for their children who are in their 40s and 50s now who’ve got Autism.

The Brit continued, “What I want to try and do with my platform is just try and get awareness. Just because a kid might be messing around and crying in public it’s not always because the child’s naughty or they’ve got sh*t parent, the reason why the kids acting up.”

Aspinall initially ignored his son’s behavior but later on after watching the documentary – ‘ ‘Paddy and Christine McGuinness: Our Family and Autism,’ realized that his son might have autism. The 30-year-old UFC champion also highlighted that getting a patient diagnosis is very tough, and the waiting list is massive. Who will Tom Aspinall fight next and when? 

“Honey Badger” proved his mettle when he entered the Octagon against Sergei Pavlovich at UFC 295. The Brit took on the fight on short notice after the main event between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic had to be canceled. However, Aspinall looked in complete control after getting only two weeks to prepare for the fight. Known for his striking skills and his movement inside the Octagon, Aspinall proved too much for Pavlovich.

He shocked everyone after knocking out the Russian in the first round itself, thus claiming the interim heavyweight title.
