UFC 300 is just hours away from materializing and the fighters are ready to brawl against each other for the new $300000 bonus. Sodiq Yusuff is all set to face the rising star Diego Lopes in one of the fights of the grand night. The Nigerian-born has always been as friendly as ever and according to him, this has landed him a role in a series in Disney.

UFC fighters have always been fascinated by the charm of the silver screen and there are times when fighters get the opportunity to act in some movies. For Yusuff, it was Disney rather than any movies. ‘Super’ has been cast a role in Disney’s new animated series Iwájú. How and why did Yusuff get the role? Let’s find out.

Before diving into how Yusuff got the role let us first understand what exactly is the series about. So, basically, the story of the series revolves around two best friends, Tola and Kole. The story is based on the Afro-futuristic area of Lagos, Nigeria. Tola and Kole embrace the journey in the futuristic utopia to solve mysteries and have fun.

Now let us get back to how Yusuff got a voice-over role in the series. While in conversation with MMA journalist, Ariel Helwani, Yusuff explained that his vulnerability to have a conversation with everyone paid off when he was connected to the owner of Kugali Media [the makers of Iwájú]. He explained that he thought it to be a joke when they offered him the role of Sunday Adelekan.

“As long as it’s cool – you’re not, like, a troll – I’ll hold a conversation if I have the time…I tell people all the time, especially athletes growing up, people don’t realize how many no’s you get, You only need one good yes for it to mean something…He [owner of the company] was a Nigerian UFC fan, so I checked off all the boxes,” said Sodiq Yusuff while having a conversation with Ariel Helwani.

The show premiered on Disney+ on February 28th and is getting much love from the fans. Nonetheless, Yusuff is going to face the newcomer Diego Lopes at the grand night, however, ‘Super’ seems to be not taking the route of trash-talking and setting a new example of a positive attitude.

Yusuff is one of the most positive fighters on the roster and as much as he is likable in the real world, in the show biz trash talk is still the king, and ‘Super’s approach to having a positive and clean game has been questioned by his close aide and peers. However, such questioning has not stopped Yusuff from maintaining his positive demeanor.

“The older I get, the more secure I am in just being myself. I’m not gonna lie to you, that was one of the things that ran across my mind a lot. Even talking to like, teammates and coaches and managers, they always told me sooner or later I would have to play that role. I am glad I became secure enough in myself to the point where no matter how my career goes, I will be happy knowing I was able to stay myself,” said Yusuff to the media.

Despite everything, Yusuff is not keen on letting go of his laughable attitude, and it’s for the betterment of his mental well-being. Yet, Yusuff and Lopes are about to clash in mere hours.
