Imagine this: your television show gets canceled, and just when you think things can’t get worse, a letter from Donald Trump lands in your mailbox! That’s the scenario businessman, investor, and TV personality Mark Cuban faced in 2004. During a recent episode of the JRE (Joe Rogan Experience), the podcast host was left clutching his sides as he reacted to the unexpected response from the former POTUS towards Mark Cuban.
What happened? Why did Donald Trump send a letter to Cubans after the cancellation of his show, ‘The Benefactor’? But it wasn’t just a letter; it was a thinly veiled jab dripping with sarcasm, and Joe Rogan couldn’t get enough of it!

During the JRE episode no. 2208 with Brigham Buhler, Joe Rogan mentioned that he recently found Donald Trump’s letter to Mark Cuban being shared on social media. The UFC color commentator exclaimed, “But it’s so petty, it’s so petty, and the fact that he signed it and sent it to him. Took time out of his day to type or have someone draft a letter; probably didn’t type it himself; have someone draft the letter and send it to Mark Cuban in the mail.”
What drives someone to send a letter like that? That’s exactly what Rogan pondered. However, the podcast’s producer and resident Google-wizard, Jamie Vernon, then pulled up the letter in question.
Reading it out loud, Rogan shared, “This is from 2004.‘ Mister Mark Cuban, dear Mark, I’m truly sorry to hear that your show has been canceled for lack of ratings. When I initially called you to congratulate you on The Benefactor, little did you or I realize how disastrous and embarrassing it would be… it would turn out for you. If you ever decide to do another show, please call me and I’ll be happy to lend a helping hand.
While Vernon shared that Trump and Cuban had a long-standing “beef,” Rogan found the whole situation to be “crazy, backhanded, wild.” and exclaimed, “It’s hilarious that he takes time out of his day. Yeah. Not just, like, say good f** that guy, that show got canceled. Takes time out of his day… To write, like, a conciliatory. I’m sorry. Sorry. What’s happening, man? You loser.”
‘The Benefactor’ was broadcast only for one season on ABC in 2004 and was based on the idea of 16 participants trying to win $1 million from Cuban. Whether you love him or hate him, there’s no denying that Donald Trump knows how to keep himself in the spotlight, even if it means sending a letter to rub salt in someone’s wounds! However, the former POTUS has now seemingly come out to clarify his ‘beef’ with Joe Rogan with a surprising response.

Trump buries the hatchet with Rogan
When Joe Rogan showed his support for Robert F. Kennedy Jr., sparks seemed to fly between the host of the JRE and Donald Trump. Yet according to Trump, there’s no bad blood between them at all! Surprising? After all, Trump had previously shared on Truth Social, “It will be interesting to see how loudly Joe Rogan gets BOOOED the next time he enters the UFC Ring.”
But during his appearance on the Lex Fridman podcast, the 45th President of the United States brushed aside any notion of a rift with Rogan. Trump stated, “I’ve always liked him, but I don’t know him. I only see him when I walk into the arena with Dana and I shake his hand. I see him there, and I think he’s good at what he does.

With the remarkable shift in tone, the former POTUS also confessed, “I don’t know about doing his podcast. I guess I’d do it, but I haven’t been asked and I’m not asking them. I’m not asking anybody.” Will we ever see Donald Trump as a guest on the JRE? Because Rogan has previously stated, “I’ve had the opportunity to have him on my show more than once. I’ve said no every time. I don’t want to help him. I’m not interested in helping him.”
While the exchange between Donald Trump and Joe Rogan over Robert F. Kennedy Jr. seemed like it might spark a feud, it appears cooler heads have prevailed. But one question remains.
