Not only martial artists but also Olympians have expressed their desire to compete against the ?Mystic Mac?. Back in 2017, ?Mr. Swimming? seemingly challenged McGregor to a swimming race. He tweeted, ?All of this talk? Should we race as well???

Although it was posted as a parody, it caught the MMA world?s attention and people began talking about wanting to see the two compete against each other. In an interview, Phelps revealed that even though he could easily defeat McGregor in a race, he can?t do that in a ring.?

Years after the call-out, Phelps and the Irish mixed martial artist had a chance to finally meet each other. McGregor took the liberty of sharing the picture of the two of them posing on Twitter. He captioned, ?Great to meet the awesome @MichaelPhelps! What an athlete!?

Despite missing out on a chance to compete with the elite swimmer, the Irishman is desperate to engage in more competitive matches in his own domain.

In a conversation with Robbie Fox on his show, ?My Mom?s Basement?, the Irishman talked about his plans for the future. He declared that he hoped for consistency and a hundred fights in the Octagon.

McGregor said, ?Robbie, I hope for a hundred fights, I hope for a hundred more fights. I hope for consistency. I?m working for consistency. I?ve been getting this on-off on-off nonsense for too long. It?s via fight politics, via injuries, via just life, you know. It does happen? It?s God?s plan. It?s all God. So, I accept and understand it.??
