The JRE host mentioned during a recent episode of the podcast that there are people in power who tend to influence what kind of news goes out to the public. Furthermore, Joe Rogan also added that the same tactics used in the news industry are also used in showbiz as well, especially in late-night talk shows.

“The very thing that they use to control the media in terms of the news, they use to control the media in terms of late-night talk shows and monologues as well. It’s the same influence because it is the same sponsors, the same people are spending the same money on the same networks, and it has an impact,” said Joe Rogan.

The 54-year-old further mentioned that when such restrictive rules are imposed on a network that is funded by others, newscasters and talk show hosts often lose their passion for the work they do. As such, such control of speech has a negative impact on society as well.

“If it affects your livelihood and affects your future and your ability to do this thing that you love doing, which is hosting a talk show and you’re doing it on a network that’s paid for by that money, guess what? That affects you,” Joe Rogan added. He further went on to explain these statements by citing the example of Tucker Carlson, who was fired from FOX last year.

Firing Tucker Carlson was a big mistake in Rogan’s eyes

Joe Rogan mentioned his unceremonious dismissal, claiming that the reason behind it was his passion for his work as a journalist. He further stated, “Look what they did with the number one guy on TV news, Tucker Carlson. They fired him. He was the number one guy and they’re like, ‘You’re getting too crazy. See ya.'”

Following Carlson’s exit from FOX, he built his own online presence and has been making waves in the media industry. This, Joe Rogan believes, was one of the biggest blunders that was made by a TV news network ever. “Now you look at the guy, now he’s wild! What they’ve done now is like, what a f***ing mistake firing that guy. You should have kept him there and contained them,” Rogan added.
