“You can run but you can’t hide.” This famous quote by American boxer Joe Louis perfectly sums up the shaky career of Ronda Rousey. In her short career in the UFC, Ronda Rousey became the face of women’s MMA. Rousey fought eight times and defended her title six times when she was at the promotion. Rousey’s performance literally made Dana White go back on his words, “Women will never fight in the UFC.” Being the former UFC women’s bantamweight champion, her situation should have been better, right? Well, it is quite the opposite.

The WWE and UFC star took retirement from all forms of fighting to embrace her motherhood, however, as the day of her ultimate mom-hood approaches, Rousey has confessed how difficult it was for her to fit in the shoes that would make the entire community proud. Well, her words certainly didn’t go unnoticed as former opponent, Meisha Tate came forward to console her.

Rousey’s rise in the UFC abruptly plummeted and during an appearance on The Club Shay Shay podcast, even the UFC supremo, Dana White admitted that she had too much on her shoulders, which stagnated her growth quite a bit. The ex-UFC star took White’s comments seriously as she confessed that the community betrayed her, “I had to be everything to everyone. I had to promote as hard as I trained, and because I did that, that’s why we got as far as we are today.” And yes, even color commentator Joe Rogan is on Rousey’s list of betrayers.

Ronda Rousey emphasized that beyond her duties of promoting and fighting for the promotion, she sustained quite a few concussions that had adverse effects on the later part of her life. Well, her confession didn’t go unnoticed by the community as Meisha Tate has come forward to give her honest opinion. “I do not think the MMA community, in large part, ever turned their back on Ronda [Rousey]… She forgot that there were hundreds of thousands of little girls around the world that were still idolizing her,” said Tate to MMA on SiriusXM.

She further added, “They didn’t care if she won or lost, they thought she was amazing either way… I think she’s still really hurt by it but I think she’s very focused on self, instead of self-growth. I think she’s still focused on, “Well, this is what happened to me. All these people turned on me. I had all these concussions happen to me, and nobody was thinking about me.” It’s like, well, hang on, it’s not quite like that.”

“It was really disappointing to see how happily everybody turned on me and how people like Joe Rogan, who were crying in the ring about the honor of being able to call my fights, people I considered friends in the media so quickly turned on me. I also am kind of grateful for it in a way because it forced me to separate other people’s perception of me from my own perception of myself, which I had realized had really become intertwined when you have that outpouring of love and support from people, it’s like you’re being love bombed by the world. ” said Rousey on The Chris Cuomo Project.

The UFC star is not expecting any redemption from either the community or Joe Rogan, however, she is just expressing her thoughts. What is your take on Ronda Rousey’s story? State your thoughts in the comments below.
