The former two-time UFC heavyweight champion, Frank Mir, created a legacy in the world of mixed martial arts. His daughter, Isabella Mir, might be the one to carry the legacy forward. Nicknamed the ‘Lady’ and with three wins under her belt, she went ahead and became the first Name, Image, Likeness (NIL) ambassador for the UFC.
In a recent appearance on heavyweight Q&A with guest fighters, the 43-year-old was questioned about his daughter’s future in the biggest MMA promotion. Without a second’s delay, the legendary submission artist declared that she would be a champion someday. He announced that ‘Lady’ would sit on the stage and tell stories as a champion. Furthermore, he revealed that she was a commendable fighter and warriors in her weight category need to be wary of her.

Prior to the fights at UFC 285, the legendary heavyweights, namely Daniel Cormier, Stipe Miocic, Curtis Blaydes, and Mir, got onto the stage and interacted with the fans. One of the fans asked Mir about his thoughts on his daughter’s future in the UFC after signing the first NIL deal.
Doubtlessly, Mir’s eyes shone with pride; he declared that one day in the future, Isabella Mir would become a champion. He said, “She’ll be up here, former champion, talking stories.” Mir admitted that he had one of the greatest mindsets in the world of mixed martial arts. “I mean, arguably, I think I have one of the greatest mindsets when it comes to MMA and understanding it, and articulating what’s going on”, he said.
However, when it came to his daughter, he declared that she was much better than him. Surprisingly, he also sent a warning to the fighters in her weight class. Mir stated, “My daughter has all of my strengths and none of my weaknesses. She’s phenomenally disciplined and focused, and nothing could distract her. I think everybody else needs to figure out what weight class is she in and either eat more, or eat less.”

The legacy continues
The 20-year-old prodigy has begun the domination of the women’s bantamweight division. With her father’s guidance, ‘Lady’ has become a star in the eyes of MMA fans. She currently is a freshman at the University of Iowa. However, that didn’t stop her from making a name for herself in the world of combat sports. She’s on the women’s wrestling team at her university, as well as the NIL ambassador for UFC.
Undeniably, Mir’s legacy has shifted to the right hands. Nevertheless. She even claimed to be a ‘bigger icon’ in MMA than her father.
