UFC great Cain Velasquez ruled the Octagon for over a decade, including claiming the heavyweight division title twice. However, the former UFC champion spent the last eight months behind the bars and recently received his long-awaited bail. Numerous MMA fighters and personalities rallied around the MMA great, campaigning for his release. Notably, UFC president Dana White had this to say about this new development.

Dana White was in New York for the much-hyped upcoming UFC 281 event that is scheduled for Nov. 12. In the conversation with a TMZ reporter, he talked about the upcoming event at Madison Square Garden. In the same segment, White expressed his thoughts about Velasquez.

What did Dana White say about Cain Velasquez?

On being quizzed about ‘Cardio Cain’, the UFC lynchpin remarked that he hadn’t talked to the American fighter. Further, White added, “I talked to his wife before he got out, but I haven’t talked to him.

The reporter followed up with how Vasquez’s wife was handling the situation. To this, the 53-year-old stated, “She was very emotional.” In addition, White mentioned that he was happy for the couple.

Subsequently, White stated, “I think he’s [Cain Velasquez] home where he should be. He should have been home a long time ago.”

Cain Vasquez had applied for bail twice prior to his recent attempt but was denied on both occasions.

“I don’t know. We’ll see how this thing plays out. He couldn’t be in a worst position,” White lastly concluded.

Cain Velasquez’s legal troubles

MMA fighter-turned-professional wrestler has spent the last eight months behind bars facing charges that include attempted murder. Notably, the authorities arrested the 40-year-old fighter on Feb. 22. The allegations included chasing a vehicle containing Harry Goularte Jr. and firing shots at him.

As a result, on March 2, authorities formally charged the 14-3 record holder with one count of attempted first-degree murder as well as several additional charges. After spending 8 months in a cell, the judge granted Velasquez $1 million bail along with stipulations on Nov. 8.

The feared fighter last fought in Octagon against Francis Ngannou on February 17, 2019. After signing a deal with Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide, he hung his MMA gloves in October 2019.
