“She Tapped Quicker Than McGregor” – ‘Stupid’ Jiu-Jitsu Fight on UFC Fight Pass Has Fans Up in Arms

Combat sports fans might know a lot of its disciplines. But, there are some which are way less popular than the other ones. For example, the popularity of Lethwei would stand nowhere in comparison to MMA, despite both being combat sports. Still, there are numerous fight promotions in this world hosting events of such unpopular combat sports disciplines.

Recently, the UFC’s 24-hour linear streaming channel, ‘Fight Pass’ posted a video on their Instagram page showcasing the bout of a lesser-known combat sports discipline. A lot would agree that the sport looked almost like jiu-jitsu but also had a major difference with it. The ‘Fight Pass’ post garnered numerous reactions from users. Some of them also took to the comments section to reveal their thoughts.

UFC Fight Pass also named the combatants of this lesser-known sport

The caption given to the video by ‘Fight Pass’ read, “Maddie Wade weathers the storm and subs Hannah 24k Goldy in OT”. Evidently, the fans would have understood that the fighters were named Maddie Wade and Hannah ’24k’ Goldy. But the question about the name of this sport still remained unanswered.

The first section of the video showcased Goldy throwing a hand strike at her opponent, Wade’s face. She went on a series of strikes in the second segment of the video as well. The striking was the only difference between this sport and jiu-jitsu.

A lot of fans also pointed out this fact in their comments as well.

The fans gave out a volley of opinions in the comments section of the post. While most comments were about the name of this jiu-jitsu-like sport, a few took the trouble of answering their touted question.

The comments section also featured a comment from the contestant, ‘Hannah Goldy’ herself.

Well, it was evident that combat jiu-jitsu was a rather unpopular sport currently. Also, the ones aware of it didn’t think too highly of it. But, a lot of other combat sports disciplines started their journey in the same way and have gone on to become noted ones in combat sports.

Who knows, combat jiu-jitsu also might take the same path.
