After losing her main event fight against Erin Blanchfield in a disappointing manner, former UFC women’s strawweight champ Jessica Andrade has revealed what went wrong on her part. Andrade was submitted in the second round by an RNC, resulting in the 10th loss of her career. Blanchfield, an established grappler, moved onto 11 wins with the submission victory, cementing herself as a legit contender in the division. After the loss, Andrade claimed that it was due to her lapse in concentration that resulted in her giving away a dominant position to her opponent. This lapse, she revealed, was because her breasts had slipped out during the takedown attempt by Blanchfield, resulting in a crucial loss of position.
Despite revealing this information, Andrade also refused to take away any credit from her young opponent, commending her for her game plan.

While talking to ‘Ag Fight’ following her loss, Andrade went into detail about how the sequence played out. As per her recollection, it occurred when Blanchfield came in for a takedown, and her shoulder ended up under her top. This, she claimed, made her lose focus for a moment.
“This is not an excuse, but when she came for the takedown, I lost focus. Because when she moved in, she put her shoulder just under my top and my breast completely slipped out. I lost focus and forgot to counter,” explained Andrade.

She then added how, while trying to fix her top, she got taken down. Unfortunately, this takedown eventually resulted in her giving away her back and getting submitted.

Despite her loss and the reason she gave, the former champ did not shy away from crediting Blanchfield. Commending her opponent’s game plan, she said, “It’s all part of the game, though. It’s not an excuse. She really had a great game plan. It wasn’t on purpose.”
