Not too long ago, Sharaputdin Magomedov hurled his desire out in the open. Well, it wasn’t anything about his return to the Octagon. Instead, the Dagestani had simply wished for Dricus Du Plessis to lose the middleweight championship belt. In a tweet, he wrote, “I’ll be very happy when he loses.” But Dricus Du Plessis is someone who has made even grown-ups cry. Yes, we’re referring to the time when DDP made Israel Adesanya cry. And as expected, Shara Bullet received some tough words from Du Plessis. This made the former UFC referee John McCarthy send a warning to the Russian.
In episode #560 of the Weighing In podcast, Josh Thompson and McCarthy weighed in on the recent battle of words between Du Plessis and Magomedov. After the Russian expressed his desire to witness Dricus Du Plessis losing the belt, the middleweight champion dropped in with a tweet that read, “Somebody get my guy some eye drops. If we lived in a world where it’s an eye for an eye Shara would be king. Between Khamzat [Chimaev] and Shara there are only 3 senses, touch, smell, and sound.”
That’s when ‘Big’ John decided to talk about the danger that the South African champion has on his tongue. He said, “DDP lives in a place where there’s all kinds of things going on there. And don’t get into a verbal confrontation with him. He’s too good.” Thomson claimed that his trash-talking game was on the next level, and McCarthy had to agree. Du Plessis has a habit of knowing his opponents. He can reel in hidden stuff and use that against his opponents. However, there were times when he crossed the line. Take his beef with Adesanya, for example. He touched on the subject of the former 2-time MW champion’s childhood and upbringing, which pushed the ‘The Stylebender’ to lash out at Du Plessis in an emotional turn of events.

On the other hand, Du Plessis has already established himself as one of the strongest middleweight contenders in the organization. He has defeated Sean Strickland twice and submitted Adesanya seemingly effortlessly. McCarthy continued, “He’s beating everybody they’re putting in front of him. He is the real deal. And right now, Shara Bullet, he doesn’t want any part of DDP.” But what does Dricus think of his trash-talking skills?

Dricus Du Plessis opens up on his trash-talking skills
It has become clear that Du Plessis studies his opponents deeply enough to render their mind games ineffective. And when it comes to trash talk, it’s not easy at all to make him go down. But in an interview with Fox Sports Australia, DDP revealed the secrets to his trash talk. After all, people seemed to believe that he rehearsed his talk. And Du Plessis had to send a response.

The middleweight champion said, “Pre-rehearsed is hard to say because people always ask me do I practice these things? I just know my opponent inside out now when it comes to me and fighting, this is my life. I know everything there is to know. I don’t go to any press conference to say, ‘I’m going to say this, this is what I’m going to say to you, get under your skin.’ I give you the chance to be respectful and if you try to bully me and try to be disrespectful and try to be a smart a*s, I will put you in your place.”
