The use of performance-enhancing drugs is very common in sports. Many great athletes in the UFC have been exposed to using PEDs after failing drug tests. However, some athletes are somehow able to beat the UFC drug testing system. Retired UFC fighter, Chael Sonnen recently admitted to having used PEDs during his MMA career.
Chael Sonnen boasted an MMA record of 31 wins, 17 losses, and 1 draw. He is considered one of the greatest MMA fighters to have never won a major championship in the sport. Sonnen’s fight with Lyoto Machida at Bellator 222 marked the end of his UFC career for good. He may not have won the biggest prize either in Bellator or in the UFC, but remained one of the most entertaining fighters in UFC’s history. Being the trash-talker he is, Chael Sonnen even commends other fighters with the same skill.
During his time in the UFC, Chael Sonnen had failed several drug tests. He consequently suffered a 2-year suspension from Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC). Moreover, Sonnen recently appeared in ‘Steve-O’s Wild Ride!’ podcast on YouTube. He admitted to having used more types of PEDs than the UFC caught him for.

Chael Sonnen claims he got away with a lot of drugs
Sonnen and Steve-O were talking about Russian athletes taking PEDs during the podcast session. But the former UFC fighter told the ‘Jackass’ cast member that he had used a lot of drugs during his active MMA career. Sonnen said, “I don’t know if anybody’s failed more drug tests than me.” He added, “But the other side is I don’t know if anybody’s gotten away with more drugs than me.”

Chael Sonnen then claimed that the UFC didn’t catch him for all the drugs he had used. “They [UFC] got me over seven substances. But I was on at least seventeen,” said Sonnen. He also claimed that the UFC drug tests aren’t as good as it seems. The ex-UFC star added, “Those tests aren’t all that good.”
Chael Sonnen has been vocal to some extent about his use of PEDs. He once appeared unapologetic after his drug test failures in 2014, after getting 2 years of his MMA career wasted. He believes that the UFC drug test is full of flaws. Sonnen has also had constant run-ins with the law during his active MMA career.
