The main event of UFC Vegas 71 was a highly anticipated battle between the 3rd and 4th ranked heavyweights. Curtis Blaydes failed to make an impact in the fight. He couldn’t register a takedown after his only attempt was quickly rubbed off by Sergei Pavlovich.

The fight neared the end after Pavlovich landed a strong right on Blaydes’ chin. He continued to land some stiff shots on ‘Razor’s head as referee Marc Goddard called the fight to stop. Unfortunately for Curtis Blaydes, he suffered the first loss in his last four UFC fights.

Pavlovich wants a title shot in his next fight

After the huge TKO win over ‘Razor’ Blaydes, Pavlovich made it clear at the post-fight press conference that he was willing to wait for the title shot since Stipe Miocic and Jon Jones were scheduled to fight this summer. He said, “I’ll rest, I’ll eat, I’ll sleep [and] I will rest some more. I’ll wait.”

When one of the reporters asked him for a prediction for the Jones vs Miocic fight. He said, “Honestly, it’s a 50-50 toss-up. So, I don’t care.” Pavlovich also mentioned that he is not underestimating either of the two top heavyweights. “I wouldn’t say that either of them would be an easy fight. I mean, they are both [Jones and Miocic] very hard warriors. So, I have to prepare for whoever it is and be ready for whoever they give me,” said Sergei Pavlovich.
