Khabib Nurmagomedov shares a great relationship with his former coach, Javier Mendez. Even after being away from the UFC for so long, Nurmagomedov consistently stays in touch with Mendez. Javier Mendez trained Nurmagomedov for over eight years and it is evident that they have immense respect for each other.
Recently, ‘The Eagle’ took to Instagram to share a video of him training in the gym and then sending a message to his coach. Nurmagomedov said, “Coach, I know you a busy guy, but I hope you miss me coach where are you?” Along with the video, Nurmagomedov wrote a caption saying, “Send me location.”

The social media post clearly illustrates how genuine the relationship between the pair is. As even though many fighters share great relationships with their teams and coaches, it is only during the time they are active. However, after retirement, most fighters and coaches end up a bit estranged. That is surely not the case with ‘The Eagle’ and Mendez.
Nurmagomedov, along with Islam Makhachev, first joined Javier Mendez and AKA back in August 2012. During the time Nurmagomedov trained with Mendez, he was undefeated in the UFC and defended his title 3 times. While ‘The Eagle’ retired back in October 2020, Mendez is still actively training various MMA stars.
What does Nurmagomedov’s latest post mean?
While the latest post shared by Nurmagomedov could just be about him missing his coach and nothing less, many people think there is more to it. Many fans believe that this message means that ‘The Eagle’ is looking to get back with Mendez to train and make a comeback to the Octagon.
However, this seems unlikely as Nurmagomedov has claimed that he is enjoying his retirement. Although fans of ‘The Eagle’ still remain optimistic about his return to the UFC.

While the relationship between Nurmagomedov and Mendez is now great, this wasn’t the case when the pair first started working together. In an interview, Mendez had talked about how when they first started training together Mendez believed Nurmagomedov never listened to him.
