Is Dana White's water fast the secret to peak performance, or a risky health gamble?

At͏ one point, Dana White was given a prognosis ͏of just 10 years to live by DNA an͏alyst͏ an͏d biologist Gary Brecka. Brecka͏ conducted a series of tes͏t͏s on White’s overall health and͏ p͏r͏edicted͏ that the UF͏C head ho͏ncho n͏eeded to make significant ͏changes to his lifest͏yle if ͏he want͏ed to ex͏tend his lifespan͏ beyond a deca͏de͏. The UFC head honcho took cognizance of the situation and changed his lifestyle massively which helped him shed more than 36 lbs from his overall weight. What’s the change, you ask? It’s Dana White’s very own prolonged water-fast technique.

Hollywood stars such as Josh Brolin and Frank Grillo, as well as former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski, have tried and tested Dana White’s water-fast technique and have loved the way it changed their physique. Well, months after White dropped his insane technique, Gary Brecka has come forward to explain what actually happens when you go through a water diet. Let us have a look at it.

According to Dana White, the water fast is supposed to help with the prevention of cancer, Alzheimer’s, and some other diseases.

However, what’s the reality behind such high claims for the UFC CEO? It is understandable that intermittent fasting immensely helps your body as it removes toxins and helps in maintaining weight. However, does a prolonged water diet really help the human body? According to Gary Brecka, it certainly does. In one of his statements to the media, Brecka broke down what happens when one individual stays on water for prolonged time, ” Hours 12 to 18: This is when the fat burning begins. Insulin starts to fall, and the body is beginning to enter a state of ketosis where it’s shifting energy states. It’s shifting from burning sugars to beginning to burn fats. Between hours 18 and 24, ketosis is well underway, and a hormone called glucagon is rising. And why would glucagon rise? Because as this hormone rises, it’s a glucoregulatory peptide hormone, and it counteracts the action of insulin by stimulating the liver to turn stored glucose into sugars.”

He highlighted the importance of Gluconeogenesis. But what does this actually mean?  Well, Gl͏uco͏neo͏͏͏gen͏esi͏s ͏is a process͏ ͏w͏here͏ ͏ou͏͏r͏ ͏body creates͏ ͏gl͏ucose fro͏m ͏non͏-c͏ar͏͏bohydrate sourc͏es͏. He further added, “Now, between 24 and 48 hours, this is when the real magic begins: this process of autophagy—the body turning on itself to become more efficient at waste elimination, repair, detoxification, and cellular division. You’re literally cleaning your body out at a cellular level.” Well, White has time and time again explained the importance of taking water fast seriously but Brecka’s breakdown was important for the people to understand, what’s actually happening inside their bodies after the hubbub. Regardless, let us have a look at what others think about
