Sean Strickland is still quite crazy. Even after ‘Tarzan’ beat Israel Adesanya in a shocking upset at their UFC 293 clash in September last year, this has not tempered Strickland’s signature dark and twisted sense of humor. Despite his hard and confrontational exterior, anyone following Strickland knows it was born out of the significant childhood trauma and abuse his father subjected to him and his family.

After Dricus Du Plessis mocked the abuse Strickland received at the hands of his father in a recent press conference, Strickland was visibly angry. And this primed him for a compelling podcast appearance with comedian Theo Von.

Sean Strickland went on comedian Theo Von’s ‘This Past Weekend’ podcast after the contentious UFC 296 press conference. The middleweight champion seemed to have enjoyed his appearance on the podcast and would open up about his difficult childhood.

Strickland had great chemistry with the comedian, whose eclectic stream of consciousness and sense of humor complemented the fighter’s perfectly. ‘ Tarzan’s inner comedian really came out in the podcast, and he had jokes for Theo Von right from the start of the podcast.

After Theo Von introduced him and told the audience he was the middleweight champion of the UFC, Strickland would make a joke at his own expense. “Yeah, f**king weird right, man? The UFC’s really lowered their standards. Used to be class and then they let my a** in here,” Strickland said.

However, the middleweight champion is in for a serious fight against South African juggernaut Dricus Du Plessis, who has vowed to bring the belt back to his home continent and become the first “real African” champion.

After their contentious press conference, Strickland and Du Plessis were involved in a brawl during UFC 296, which was caught on camera. Du Plessis, who was sitting two rows behind him, seems to have said something to Strickland, who proceeded to jump on the South African. Strickland landed some blows while DDP grabbed Strickland’s torso until Dana White and security managed to separate them. Are you excited for their upcoming fight? Let us know in the comments.
