As the UFC is heading towards another massive event in UFC 315, the defending champion of the welterweight division, Belal Muhammad, is set to compete against his challenger from Australia, Jack Della Maddalena. Throughout the build-up to their clash so far, Muhammad has taken many shots at his rival, and if that was not enough, he has even begun an internet war with Maddalena’s grappling coach Craig Jones.

It seems no one can escape from ‘Bully B’s crosshair, a legendary BJJ practitioner and grappling coach, Craig Jones surely didn’t wake up expecting to exchange words with him. But it happened. Muhammad verbally attacked Maddalena’s coach, saying: “I’m gonna do you like Danis after the fight.” Leaving the whole MMA community confused as to why he is going after a coach. But Jones didn’t mind ‘Bully B’s taunts one bit. In a nonchalant reply, Jones won the hearts of the community as they were left laughing at his statement. He replied: “Man’s gonna jump the cage and decision me.” As funny as it is already, what makes it funnier is that it’s a coach who has possibly 10-8’d Belal in the exchange.

Of course, Belal must’ve felt cool saying that to one of the most respected martial artists in the world, and knowing his self-confidence he didn’t expect a reply from Jones. But Craig Jones delivered a response that even left Sean Strickland laughing as he commented, “Lmao.” on the post. It must be heavy, being ridiculed by a coach like this. But it’s nothing new for Belal Muhammad.

Muhammad’s recent fights, ever since his mainstream recognition, have involved a lot of beef and intensity. It seems as if ‘Remember The Name’ has changed his temperament. Will his antics prove beneficial against Jack Della Maddalena?

Does Belal Muhammad use his ‘beefs’ as his motivation to win?

Throughout the build-up to his fight against Leon Edwards, ‘Bully B’ maintained his trash-talk and hostile intensity towards an increasingly emotional Edwards. Moreover, he reaped many advantages by getting inside ‘Rocky’s head. With a five-round domination to take away Edwards’ welterweight throne, Muhammad’s confidence reached new heights. Belal Muhammad’s training in Dagestan with Khabib Nurmagomedov and the Eagles MMA team was a game-changer. He described it as a transformative experience, elevating him “physically, mentally, and spiritually.”

What’s your perspective on:

Is Belal Muhammad's trash talk a strategic move, or is he just setting himself up for a fall?

Have an interesting take?

The intense environment pushed him beyond his limits, sharpening his grappling and fight IQ, making it feel like he’d trained for 20–50 days in just a short time. He is so confident before his first title defense that he once even talked about only striking with Maddalena and not going for a single takedown. He boldly vowed to outbox Jack Della Maddalena, promising to show off his “Canelo Hands” (a nod to boxing champ Canelo Álvarez) and prove he’s the best striker in the welterweight division.

Now, beefing with your opponent’s coach is a new level of trash-talk. Maddalena, too, can use this offense as his motivation to deliver a huge upset at UFC 315.  The Australian striker is still undefeated in the UFC, and even if Belal is as intense of a wrestler as they come, many consider Maddalena to be the best boxer in the UFC. He surely has all the tools to pull off this upset, and considering this is still going to be Belal’s first title defense, Jack can establish overall dominance by taking over the early rounds.

However, Muhammad seems to be comfortable giving his best at the highest stakes. He has built a reputation on this attitude. An obvious favorite to win the fight by majority, he is not only in the prime of his career but also comes with a massive experience in the toughest competition of the UFC. He has a total of 15 wins in the UFC and only 3 losses. His experience at the top level alongside his wrestling can prove lethal for Maddalena, who will capitalize on any opening and go for a finish. How do you think this fight is gonna go down? Let us know in the comments.
