Michael Morales is an Ecuadorian fighter and an undefeated prospect in the welterweight division of the UFC. He joined the UFC after earning a contract at season 5 of Dana White’s contender series after a dominant and well-rounded performance. However, that wasn’t all for Morales.

The undefeated Ecuadorian phenom has smashed his way through the division. Winning all three fights in dominating fashion, finishing two by knockout. Even though his last fight against Max Griffin didn’t end in a stoppage, Morales showed his composure and patience. Though just 24 years old, he has shown the swagger of a battle-tested veteran. Michael Morales will be fighting against Jake Mathews in the co-main event of UFC Vegas 82. Find out what he had to say in an ES exclusive interview.

The welterweight division is certainly stacked right now and Morales is one to watch out for. The Ecuadorean is still young but seems hungry to etch his name in the history books. But seeing that there are plenty of incredible talents in the division, how would Morales fare against the top 15 in the division?

In an exclusive interview with ES, when asked who he plans to fight in 2024, Morales stated, “I’d like to fight Ian Garry, I believe that will be a very nice fight.” The two fighters are currently both undefeated and have been steamrolling their opponents. The fight would definitely be one to watch out for, as both fighters seem unstoppable.

Though still unranked, we can clearly see that Morales is one of the top prospects in the division. Fans believe that it’s only a matter of time till Morales wreaks havoc in the top 15 of the welterweight division. If he wins this fight against Jake Mathews at UFC Vegas 82, he will most likely get a shot at the top 15 of the division. Maybe a fight against Ian Garry considering how the fight against Mathews plays out.

Morales gives his take on Vera vs. O’Malley

In the interview with ES, Michael Morales also claimed to be close with UFC bantamweight contender Marlon Chito Vera. He also gave his prediction for the Sean O’Malley and Marlon Chito Vera fight, saying, “I believe he (Chito) will win the fight by knockout or submission… he’s very, very well trained and very well prepared for this.” Morales seems to have full faith in Chito Vera to come out on top.

Marlon Chito Vera did hand O’Malley his only loss in his career, so maybe Chito Vera will pull it off again. Something we fight fans can be sure of is that Morales has the same confidence as his fellow countryman Marlon Vera. So it’s only a matter of time till we see the Ecuadorean phenom make a name for himself inside the octagon.
