We seem to have a confirmation regarding an upcoming blockbuster title matchup. Merab Dvalishvili, who recently paid a visit to India, along with Indian MMA prospect Anshul Jubli, revealed that he will be fighting for the title soon in the latter half of 2024.
Georgian bantamweight star Merab Dvalishvili joined the only Indian UFC fighter on the male roster and traveled to Mumbai for a meet-and-greet event with the Indian UFC fans. Besides the meet and greet, he also had a chat with the team of UFC India when he made a stunning announcement.

‘The Machine’ revealed that he will be contending for the title against Sean O’Malley next and that too, at UFC 306, which will take place in the Las Vegas Sphere during Mexican Independence Day. “September [I will fight Sean O’Malley] at the Sphere [in Las Vegas],” Merab Dvalishvili stated. If it is a sure-shot announcement, it will be the Georgian’s first UFC title fight since joining the promotion back in 2017. ‘The Machine’ has also developed a fanbase of his own, which is something that O’Malley likes about Dvalishvili.

‘Suga’ claimed to have been impressed with Dvalishvili’s rise in the UFC not too long ago
In a video that O’Malley posted a couple of months ago, the champion mentioned that he was impressed with Merab Davlishvili’s performance against former double champion Henry Cejudo. ‘Suga’ spoke about the Georgian’s development as a fighter and how he has been able to captivate people on social media with his skits and schtick. O’Malley believes these things can help build up the fight when they eventually clash against each other.
“I’ll give credit to Merab, Merab’s f****** improved, not just fighting, but on social. He’s doing a really good job building himself up, being himself, being a goofy, ugly a**, and he’s doing a good job. So that fight’s next,” Sean O’Malley stated. It will be interesting to see how things pan out post-UFC 306.
