Is Sean O'Malley's Instagram escapade a harmless joke or a sign of deeper issues?

Sean O’Malley has clarified why he has been pestering the ‘Hawk Tuah’ girl, Hailey Welch on Instagram. UFC fans were left in stitches after Welch, on her ‘Talk Tuah’ podcast, revealed that ‘Suga’ had been messaging and calling her on Instagram the past week. But O’Malley, who is married (but has a somewhat unconventional relationship with his wife), had a perfectly innocent explanation for trying to contact Welch, which ‘Suga’ shared on his podcast.

“Bro that Hawk Tuah s**t, you guys see that? So what happened [was that] I was on Oxycontin. It was the day of my surgery or the next day. So I was on Oxycotin and I was live on Twitch, I was live on Instagram, and I was trying to call people to freestyle. And I’m just f***ed up, I’m on Oxycotion, the boys are high as a kite, and I called Aiden Ross, SteveWillDoIt, I was calling a bunch of people to freestyle,” O’Malley said.

“And they wanted me to call the Hawk Tuah girl. So I found her IG and I tried to click the little call button. But it didn’t go through, so I clicked it a few times and she’s like he called me like five times, which she’s not wrong, I did call her like five times. But I was trying to get her to freestyle and maybe a little Hawk Tuah,” he clarified.

Of course, Welch has spoken about ‘Suga’ messaging her too, which was not addressed by O’Malley. It may be that the internet sensation may be mistaken on that count, or the former bantamweight king doesn’t want to talk about why he texted her. Another interesting point about O’Malley’s response was that he admitted he wanted to get ‘maybe a little Hawk Tuah’ from Welch. But it seems the UFC star is joking when he said that.

If it isn’t a joke, however, then O’Malley’s intentions weren’t as pure and innocent as he led fans to believe initially. But it is not surprising given the former champ’s views about relationships.

Sean O’Malley’s unconventional views on monogamy

Have an interesting take?

Sean O’Malley has a somewhat open relationship with his wife. While ‘Suga’ has admitted that his wife, Danya isn’t really okay with him having relationships with other girls, he feels entitled to do so (occasionally) because he was “paying for everything” and treated his wife like “a queen.”

On the ‘Full Send’ podcast, the Montana native would reveal that he doesn’t believe in traditional monogamous relationships and felt that having an open relationship prevented the couple take each other for granted. Of course, his views on relationships did not go down well with the MMA community and other fighters as a whole.

But the golden rule of letting people do whatever they want to in their personal lives as long as they’re not harming anyone and all parties are willingly engaging is the way to go. What do you think about Sean O’Malley’s explanation about the whole ‘Hawk Tuah’ girl fiasco?
