Conor McGregor’s ‘beef’ with Dustin Poirier seems to be still smoldering as the Irishman recently unleashed another tirade against ‘The Diamond’ online. During a recent interview with Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour, Dustin Poirier revealed that he tried to auction off his fight kit from his UFC 302 lightweight championship clash against Islam Makhachev. However, due to a last-minute bid withdrawal, he was left hanging before Ali Abdelaziz, Khabib Nurmagomedov and Makhachev’s manager, reached out to him.

Poirier stated, “Actually Ali reached out to me, Khabib wants to buy it, for the fight with Islam, so tryna figure that out, see if that goes…”. However, this didn’t sit well with Conor McGregor as he took to the comment section to fire shots at Poirier and his wife, and ‘The Eagle’ also got caught in the crossfire.  McGregor in a series of comments on the post stated, “Scammers him and the wife. SCAMMERS… Buy the shorts that he quit in the most important fight of his life #neverbeen… Broke SCAMMER ALERT”

The history of ‘bad blood’ between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier began at UFC 178 in 2014, where the Irish MMA star defeated Poirier with a first-round TKO. Fast forward to 2021, and McGregor promised to donate $500,000 to Poirier’s charity before their rematch at UFC 257. The funds were intended to build a gym for underprivileged youth in Poirier’s hometown of Lafayette, Louisiana. However, the situation soured leading up to their third fight at UFC 264 when Poirier publicly accused McGregor of reneging on his donation promise.

During the build-up to their clash, which ultimately ended with Conor McGregor suffering a horrific leg fracture, he had predicted that he would be knocking Poirier out in the Octagon. This led to a response by Poirier on social media where he stated, “@TheNotoriousMMA you also predicted a donation to my foundation and you and your team stopped responding after the fight in January.”

The exchange was escalated further by the Irishman who leveled accusations of non-transparency on Poirier’s foundation saying, “A donation, not a debt. We’ve been awaiting the plans for the money that never came. I do with all my donations. Know where it’s going dot for dot. Otherwise it goes walking. As is the case with a lot of these foundations, sadly.”

But despite McGregor’s recent aggressive comments bringing up the past, Poirier has remained focused on his charitable efforts and the future of his career. ‘The Diamond’ also took a shot of his own by revealing that he isn’t entirely convinced with the Irishman’s withdrawal from his UFC 303 bout against Michael Chandler!

Poirier questions McGregor’s UFC 303 pull-out with “pinky toe” injury

During his appearance on ‘The MMA Hour,’ Dustin Poirier revealed that he thinks there’s more than meets the eye behind Conor McGregor’s delayed return to the Octagon. When asked to share his thoughts on ‘The Notorious’s injury, the Louisiana native stated, “A pinky toe, I fought with a lot of injuries over the years. A pinky toe doesn’t seem like a reason to pull out of a fight.”

When further asked about the potential of another fight between the pair in light of the friction still present between the two, ‘The Diamond’ confessed, “He crossed lines you can’t come back from. I want to whip his a** [when he tweets about me]. He’s trying to bring that out of me, he wants me to fire back.”

However, despite the heated feud between the two, Poirier clarified that he has “no clue” if the UFC will be setting up another clash between them in the near future as ‘The Diamond’ has also hinted that his UFC journey may be coming to an end soon.
