Dana White met Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan when UFC was making inroads into Arabia. White knew about the lavish status as well as the high-profile nature of the Saudi prince, but he was unaware of the fact that Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan also practiced in MMA and specifically in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

While having a conversation with Vivek Ramaswamy, White revealed some unknown facts about the life of the National Security Advisor of Saudi Arabia. “Shaikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan is also uh their head of Defense so he’s a big Jiu-Jitsu guy… And uh, they are uh, you know, big into Jiu-Jitsu over there.”

White further explained that Sheikh Tahnoun is a 3rd-degree black belt. He went to the USA for his studies, during which he learned about Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ). “Sheikh Tahnoun is like a third-degree black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu… He went to school I think at USD. Oh, and it was like ‘Coming to America.’ Nobody knew he was like this Prince, you know what I mean? And he was taking jiujitsu classes and stuff.”

White has always emphasized on having a very good relationship with the Saudis, however, the recent postponement of the Saudi event tells us a different story.
