Is Dana White losing his touch, or is Kamaru Usman just being a sore loser?

UFC 304 was an eventful day for sure. Not only did it have surprising winners, but it also had some strong controversy. Belal Muhammad was the star of the event as he became the welterweight champion, while Leon Edwards lost his position which made Dana White furious. On top of that, Paddy Pimblett defeated King Green which was another disappointment for the boss.

White had promised to give a hefty bonus to the winners in the pre-fight conference. He had listened to his starfighters Edwards and Green, but ultimately it backfired. A furious White, in the post-fight press conference, refused to promise any bonuses in the future. Now, Kamaru Usman is not too happy about it. Let’s see why.

During a recent appearance with Henry Cejudo on YouTube, Kamaru Usman spoke about UFC 304 and how it turned out. The Nigerian-American was upset about the bonus withdrawal by the UFC head honcho. He talked about his first “live audience bout” at UFC, which was UFC 261, for which he did not get the bonus that he wanted. The 37-year-old revealed that he was a “little salty” about Dana White giving a bonus of $100k at UFC 304, but withdrawing it for future fights.

Usman did not like the bonus withdrawal from White because he wanted the CEO to give him bonuses when he stepped in the octagon next. UFC 261 was the first ever live audience event where Usman fought and won against Jorge Masvidal, but he did not receive a surprise bonus.

The 37-year-old requested the UFC head honcho to wait for him, as he declared, “And I am a little salty I’ll tell you that right now. I’m a little salty so Dana please please, I know you are upset with what happened but hey. Just wait around for me you know just wait around for when I jump back in there. You spike it on for time for me and that’s that.”

Dana White was angry at how the main event between Belal Muhammad and Leon Edwards went. The fight between Mokaev and Kape didn’t turn out great either. So the boss decided to withdraw the bonus for future fights.

With previous events like UFC 300 being a massive hit and UFC 306 coming to a magnificent venue like The Sphere, Dana White was confident about UFC 304 as well. He even promised a $100K bonus to the winners when Leon Edwards and King Green asked him to spice things up at the pre-fight press conference. However after the event, White was not happy about his decision.

The UFC CEO was agitated that the main event wasn’t a great hit. White expected a finishing move from either champion or challenger but the fight went on for 5 rounds. “I think tonight’s show that we should not. Upping them doesn’t change anything. It doesn’t make anybody fight any harder,”  the boss said. He was disappointed because, in his eyes, the fighters did not fight for the bonus.

The hefty price did not change anything and the fighters did not perform well. “You can thank everybody on this card for that. Nobody fought any harder. There was no sense of urgency. Holy s**t, I want the $100k,” White furiously said.
