Alexa Grasso fires back at Valentina Shevchenko ahead of UFC Fight Night 228 rematch

Since then-flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko lost her title to Alexa Grasso at UFC 285 this March, the former has maintained that she lost because of a mistake on her part, rather than Grasso’s skills and strategy.

And the reigning flyweight champion spoke about feeling disrespected by ‘Bullet’s comments in a recent interview with ESPN MMA. She felt that Shevchenko was not giving the warranted credit to her and her team. “At this level, I think there are no surprises. There are no accidents. You know exactly what you’re doing. I did with my coaches a lot of game plans to win the fight, and that was one of those… I feel that little disrespect, you know, for me and my team,” Grasso said.

Grasso promised to beat Shevchenko in her next fight and was excited for the rematch tonight at UFC Fight Night 228 in Las Vegas.

Laura Sanko talks about becoming the first female commentator to call a UFC PPV event

In an interview with TMZ Sports, UFC commentator Laura Sanko spoke about breaking the glass ceiling and being the first woman to commentate on a UFC PPV event earlier this week at UFC 293. She stated that despite having called fights for Dana White’s Contender Series and UFC Fight Night earlier; she was not expecting to be tapped to call a PPV event.

“It’s not something I was asking for, it’s not something that was discussed. I knew about it months ago but when the call came, it was a huge surprise to me. The reaction has been tremendous and I can’t tell you how many women have reached out, female fighters, [and] a lot of dads saying you know my daughter looks to you as an example,” ‘Fancy’ told the interviewer.
