UFC 274 produced some of the greatest moments in the history of the organization that fans won’t forget. From highlight-reel KOs to dominant finishes, the event had everything. However, one match-up stood out for all the wrong reasons. The highly anticipated rematch between ‘Thug’ Rose Namajunas and Carla ‘ Cookie Monster’ Esparza took 8 years to be made, but it didn’t live up to the hype.

With less than 70 strikes thrown over the course of 5 rounds, the strawweight match-up defied all expectations. The Cookie Monster reclaimed her title but at the price of becoming the ‘worst title fight in history’. According to a report by South China Morning Post, UFC Icon Joe Rogan didn’t hold any punches as he denoted the fight to be the worst title bout.

As the bout came to an end, Rogan shared his thoughts, “It’s the stinker of all stinkers,” he added, “The dud of all duds.” The fans in attendance followed the same, as they profusely booed the combatants. It is also being said that the audience was seeing making a wave during the fight.
Former UFC Champion Ronda Rousey backed Rose Namajunas
Retired mixed martial artist and WWE Superstar, ‘Rowdy’ Ronda Rousey, took to social media to offer her support to ‘Thug’ Rose. With just a three-letter response, “We love you” she backed the former champion. Several other mixed martial artists also extended their support as a loss at UFC 274 marks the second occasion, when Namajunas dropped her title.

The fight did not produce fireworks and was largely ignored by the fans. Despite the overwhelmingly negative response, Esparza offered her honest thoughts about the match.
Carla Esparza opened up about the fight with Joe Rogan
In the post-fight interview with Rogan, Esparza shed light on why the fight failed to produce action. She stated that the game plan that she walked into the fight with did not work and despite her best attempts, things didn’t pan out.

She said, “I had a game plan going in there. I wanted the takedown, but game plans go out the window sometimes. You never want to be a part of a fight like that. I tried to come forward as much as I could, but I got that W and that’s what counts.”
