Dricus Du Plessis knocking out Robert Whittaker was one of the most important wins of the former’s career last year. With that victory at UFC 290, he became the next person for the throne. And behold his prowess; he won against Israel Adesanya to gain the middleweight title. Needless to say, ‘Stillknocks’ is happy and, in fact, over the clouds! So much so that he kissed his coach on the lips.
However, his happiness might just be short-lived because Robert Whittaker is determined to come back. Ahead of the fight against Khamzat Chimaev, he made his intentions loud and clear about his next goal. So what is ‘The Reaper’ planning?

‘Stillknocks’ next title defense is likely going to come with a rematch against Sean Strickland after the latter turned down a fight against Whittaker. Now he is waiting for the title fight. Dana White had also declared that Strickland might be fighting Du Plessis next, but these plans might all go underwater. Why? Because Robert Whittaker is taking the reigns into his hands!
While speaking to Submission Radio about his next fight with Chimaev, he made something very clear: he is in for the title. While speaking about fighting for the belt and said, “I beat Chimaev. I am fighting for the belt next. There is no doubt in my mind about that. I just got to make sure that I put all the chips and cross all the Ts. Dot all the I’s and get to Abu Dhabi, you know at the top of my game.”
This makes Strickland’s prospects a little dim, and even Israel Adesanya might lose a chance against the DDP again. But hold up! Whittaker has not won the fight yet; he is just planning to put his best foot forward, or rather his best high kick forward. So everything depends on UFC 308 and how he fights against Chimaev.

Dricus Du Plessis sends a warning to Khamzat Chimaev
‘Borz’ has only fought twice in the middleweight division and is technically unranked right now. This reason is because he has been turning down or withdrawing from fights due to health problems over the past year. Yet this did not stop him from challenging the reigning champion. Chimaev recently promised a win in the 185-pound category.

He said, “We need to get the title back for the normal people, man. This gay has the belt. First time I have seen an African gay man,” Chimaev wrote to a group of cackling fans and Darren Till, who egged him on. Naturally, this specific moment was captured and uploaded on Instagram by Home of Fight. Du Plessis did not waste time and immediately responded but did not stoop down to Chimaev’s level of trash-talking.
He warned the latter to concentrate on his fight with Whittaker for the time being. It is evident that if the undefeated middleweight can make it to his rescheduled fight with Whittaker at UFC 308 and wins, Chimaev will be the next one to fight DDP. However, ‘The Reaper’ seems to be confident about his training and is saying that he only needs to concentrate on being perfect inside the octagon. What are your thoughts on the plans that Whittaker has? Can he fight DDP next?
